Dhoni has to be one of the most overrated ones, along with these players.

(I still have Dhoni in my top 100)

Amla is ass. Also one of the most padded stats in ODI.
Imo

Smith>Lara>>>Root>Ponting>Kohli>Amla

I don't rate Amla the ODI batter at all, think he isn't even top 10 ODI openers but rate him in tests, some absolutely magnificent knocks.

How is Root higher than Ponting with 0 century in Australia?

It's more about his weakness against Singh and not India.
Ok, so it's more about Root having a problem with Cummins and not Australia in general. I mean, if you wanna checklist, averaging 26 in the flat 2000s India after your team declared India the final frontier and singlehandedly contributing to the 2001 BGT defeat (alongside Warne) is far worse than Root in Australia, and I don't think centuries in aus are the end all be all anyway, if his highest score in aus was 101 instead of 89, the 12 more runs are not gonna make me rate him higher.

an ATG series in aus? now that's where you're talking.

If I'm right, he rates every English cricketer quite high.
Yeah but that can also apply to me, but mostly in discussions like this I try to stay objective, I just think Nostalgia plays a lot of factor in the placement of Ponting.
