I feel the rut started when we installed Ganguly as the BCCI supremo and he brought is 20 year old feud with Ravi Shastri along. AFAIC, it cost the team all its harmony and unity. First bringing Kumble in needlessly as a coach when the partnership of Shaz-Virat was working very well. Then, ensuring all his favorite media outlets ran stories about Virat's captaincy when he had to sit out the 3 tests in BG 2020-21. I think that is what broke Kohli more than just technical weaknesses. Obviously him hanging on since then is his and the selectors' fault as much as anyone's but as an overall take, I think Ganguly has done more to destroy Indian cricket in the last 7 years than anyone from anywhere.

Mumbai lobby is stunting the growth of Indian cricket.

Not convinced by Gambhir as a coach. ODI series loss to Lanka in like 2 decades, whitewashed by NZ and now the final nail in the coffin with BGT loss.

Ultimately, it's results oriented business and he's shown nothing so far to indicate that he's the right man to take Indian cricket forward.

This still looks like a dressing room engulfed by the senior superstars and not the head coach of the team.
