**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

Will take a monumental effort for India to draw the series in Sydney. Especially with Bumrah seemingly spent and not many batting options. One feels that a lot of mental energy was on the line in grinding out a draw here.

If Australia decide to bat first it may be a big problem for handling Bumrahs load.

It wasn't a huge delfection, but there was one.

As per the umpiring SOP, decisions aren't overturned unless there is a compelling evidence. The third umpire could visually make out that the ball deflected but wasn't certain yet.

Going by the semantics of the above, then yes Jaiswal should have got the benefit of doubt, but we all know that the ball hit the glove.
dude what are you on

There was absolutely no doubt. There was more than compelling evidence that he smashed it and there was no benefit of the doubt he should have gotten

got dropped after a disappointing draw. that's a totally different thing to being dropped after winning a game. that MMarsh being dropped is even possible is a testament to how bad he's been
for example, in 2011-12, Shaun Marsh scored about 12 runs in the first three tests of that series, but we won. so he didn't get dropped.

India have nothing to play for, rest Bumrah and have a go at it again during the next Test Cycle.
They have plenty to play for. A win in the final test draws the series, which means they retain the trophy. They also have a chance to still make the WTC final for whatever that’s worth.

Bumrah with 30 wickets is fast approaching both the record for an Indian seamer in a series (Kapil, 32, 6 test series) and the record for an Indian bowler in a series (Chandra, 35). I’m sure that may perhaps be in somebody’s mind.

No way Bumrah wasn't man of the match again...robbed 😆

Bumrah has had one of the all-time great series and only one MoM award

He’s the exact opposite of Rohit. Lifts the team morale with his mere presence, whereas his opposite is a fat bastard that is a radiator of negative energy. I hate Rohit so much
Gavaskar would probably do a better job as him as an opener right now at 75 years of age, at least he would value his wicket, Rohit has checked out.

India didn't rest Bumrah in their last 5 test series when they were 3-1 up v England at home so they won't now lol.

Unless his body is broken, he will want to play and yeah their is plenty on the line.

The issue is one of Siraj/Deep probably need to go, I like Deep but bored of hearing of how unlucky he is tbh. Siraj probably did enough to retain his position in the 2nd innings.

It didn't follow the typical umpiring SOP, but common sense got benefit of doubt, which is fine with me as I've said it already.

Never change a winning team. Marsh, Khawaja, Starc, Lyon etc…keep them in there for as long as they hold together. You need experience in a cricket team. A bit of tape and they are good to go. Start the search for new players some time in 2026.

yep. its still a possibility, no longer 100% obviously as it was a win.

Perhaps Marsh will ask for a farewell Test at Sydney. He could then announce his retirement from red ball cricket and concentrate on the shorter form of cricket.
