Excuse me but wtf. Incumbency bias in this Aus team is off the charts. Usman is like 40 and **** who does he have pictures of

I blame George Bailey. Thinks the selectors job is just hanging out with mates

Jeez that's pretty harsh on mcsweeney isn't it. Hasn't really lit up the scorecard but surely people get that him seeing off early bumrah spells had a positive impact on the last two tests. Heads innings aside, bumrah not being able to get at Marnus and Smith within the first 10 overs made a difference compared to what happened at Perth.

I wasn't convinced by Webster against pace the other night in the Big Bash, but I have watched all of an over or so of him batting, and he mustn't have a glaring weakness if he's been making decent runs in the shield comp. I can't see why that wouldn't be the change they make, getting him in there for Marsh when he isn't bowling.

So in the year since Warner retired, they've decided that Harris, Renshaw and Bancroft aren't good enough, Smith isn't an opener, McSweeney isn't an opener, and now they're setting up Konstas to potentially prove he isn't ready yet? Who is even going to be left to open once Khawaja goes? Are they just hoping that Renshaw will come good? Or are they going to stick with the silly plan to make Green open when he comes back?

Selectors had to do something as Starc is 4th in the Aus batting averages this series. Shows how poor the bats have done

Starc - 76 runs @ 19.00 (194 balls)
Labuschagne - 82 runs @ 16.40 (247)
McSweeney - 72 runs @ 14.40 (212)
Marsh - 69 runs @ 13.80 (141)
Khawaja - 63 runs @ 12.60 (136)

If McSweeney is out then Marsh also better be out. Let him focus on white ball and retire from tests

There is no one, hence a Hail Mary on Konstas. They would be mad to make Green open. He should be replace Smith at 4 eventually. Marsh needs to go. Unfortunately insisting on playing Hardie in meaningless ODIs has arrested his FC development. As for the other opener to replace Khawaja, may as well draw names out of a hat.

If it was Konstas' BBL innings a couple of days ago that inspired this decision it would perfectly sum up the fecklessness of this selection panel.
