**Official** 3rd Test @Brisbane (Ewwwww), 14th-18th December

Carey won a Test on his own bat just 3 games ago. Has been in great form in domestic and ODIs when he got the chance as well. He has to mess up pretty bad for the rest of this series to get leap frogged by inglis
That he's in great form would mean it counts double against him if he continues to play nondescript innings and get out loosely

Bumrah could miss this test.

I don't think he is fit.
I was surprised to see how much he was cramping at the end of Aus's innings because that wasn't really a particularly long innings or a particularly hot day. Though the previous day was extremely muggy, even at night.

Yeah I think that's the fundamental problem with Carey & why he's less safe than some of the others struggling to make runs. Mind you, I'm not convinced Inglis would be any better in that regard.

They dropped Head for the series in India, and already opted for Inglis over Carey in ODIs despite Carey having a better record. I don't think it's too unlikely that they make a change for SL.

Not exactly what happened. Carey was poor in ODIs for like a year+ before being dropped (rightfully) for Inglis. If anything that shows how unwilling the selectors are to change keepers without very good reason

Sure - his one good innings (99 vs SA) in an extended period of underperformance didn't warrant him keeping his spot. And once the team started losing important matches they made the call, with the justification of needing a better player of spin.

Yeah, they don't seem to realise the runs don't matter a lot when the wickets aren't coming from Harshit and Reddy.
I dunno mate, I think both teams would be reluctant to drop someone making runs in the lower-middle order given their batting. It isn’t like Aus are racking up 500 themselves

I wouldn’t be surprised if the surface was a bit spongy - there were a lot of no balls bowled, which sometimes reflects the run ups not being ideal

I think we're likely to see the same lineup but Akash > Rana and Jadeja > Ashwin.

Ashwin bowled decently but they only really picked him because of the pink ball imo. Get the feeling they'll drop him for the extra batting. Or they potentially even go for Sundar.

Reddy batting well has made picking both Ashwin and Jadeja impossible for them because they won't drop him and they won't drop the 3rd seamer or extra batsman for him either.

I think they will play Sundar before Jaddu as they seem to like the matchup of the offie to the Aussie lefties. Akashdeep should also potentially help as he seems more dangerous bowling to left handers.

Yeah other changes seem rather far fetched given what we know about this side and management.

Rohit Sharma has fallen to 31st position in the test batting rankings!

He should be nowhere near the side. It's likely his last test series imo.

Doesn’t it depend where the other blokes are ranked as to whether he should be in the side?
