South Africa team selection

Just realised they left out Bjorn for George.

Bjorn never really let anyone down but as the package Linde is just more lethal.

Selection definitely feels like it is getting better, becoming more consistent better in terms picking the right players more often than not, both experience and young talent wise. Hopefully it continues and the younger talent steps up to the mark.

Is there any young fast bowlers coming through... I`m talking consistent genuine speed 145+ not medium/fast pacers?

Kwena Maphaka and Tristan Luus can bowl balls over 145 semi-regularly so at this stage I would say those are the 2.

No idea on Gideon Peters speeds but I guess until he plays regularly he won't be getting a look in.

Looking forward to watching Coke Week in a couple of weeks to see what is what there.

Schalk Engelbrecht had been with the test team in Durban now. Shukri had him in the winter camps as well.

Assuming he is the long-term right-arm offie they like.

FBU

International Debutant
Rickelton and Paterson it is then.
Have never taken to Paterson as a bowler.

Just saw this https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/...eady-to-show-the-world-his-new-tricks-1463422

Remember his last cc match

Any ideas for the replacement?

Nothing against Rob Walter but I actually think our white-ball cricket could do with a risk-taker & outside the box-thinker like Robin Peterson. Maybe that will happen in time.

Kyle Verreynne re-signed for Notts

Good sign that. Like Northants really wanting Breetzke back. Although he has since signed in the IPL.

With Paterson & Bedingham, the only Proteas heading for County Cricket at this stage.

Obviously Elgar & Harmer continue to add to their impressive FC careers down at Chelmsford.

Could do with de Zorzi, J Hermann & Brevis playing some county cricket. Periphery bowlers too.

16 SAs signed for IPL
De Kock
Du Plessis
Markram
Rickelton
Breetzke
Stubbs
Klaasen
Miller
Ferreira

Rabada
Nortje
M Jansen
Coetzee
Ngidi
Williams
Maphaka

A bit disappointed for Maharaj.
