What the **** lmaoOMG Meredith hits a single from the last ball to deep cover and inexplicably takes off for a second which would have made no difference and gets run out! Genuinely one of the most brain dead pieces of cricket I've ever seen.
FMD some people are stupid. He's one of them.
This year: 235 runs @35.83, best 88 and 20 wickets at 21.6, best 5/41It says a fair bit about NSW that Edwards undeservedly played purely as a batsman for quite a while when he's a far better bowler.
Needs an MRI, something not right thereOMG Meredith hits a single from the last ball to deep cover and inexplicably takes off for a second which would have made no difference and gets run out! Genuinely one of the most brain dead pieces of cricket I've ever seen.

Pretty standard for Shield spin tbh. Averaging 40 in the Shield was normal for most of the last decade and a half IIRC. It's what made Steve O'Keeffe stand out so muchSpin watch at the halfway point:
Kuhnemann: 18 @38.00
Swepson 17 @42.21
Murphy: 14 @31.07
Rocchiccioli: 14 @44.14
Pope: 12 @30.58
Lyon: 10 @28.00
Sangha: 8 @53.75
Manenti: 8 @61.50
Warren: 5 @29.00
Agar: 4 @15.00
Zampa: 4 @35.00
Green: 4 @65.75
Renshaw: 2 @75.50
McSweeney: 1 @29.00
Radhakrishnan: 1 @48.00
McKenzie: 1 @111.00
Does not make for good reading that lot.
Did he seriously think it was a white ball game? Just saw that last ball. Unbelievable. When you got run-outs like Riley Meredith in them, you can't lose
****ing mental wasn't it?Did he seriously think it was a white ball game? Just saw that last ball. Unbelievable.
An underrated side effect of the proliferation of T20 leagues, I am sure.
Thing is all the spinners in the period you mention (except O'Keefe) were crap, though Holland managed to upgrade to 'decent' by the end of his career. I think some of the current lot look significantly more capable, so I find it concerning they're doing so badly. Of the matches I've watched parts of, very few of them have had pitches with anything to offer, and Rocchiccioli's rhythm looks bad.Pretty standard for Shield spin tbh. I'm not convinced it was just that. Conditions were genuinely awful for spin bowling outside every other Sydney game. Made the spinners look even worse than they were.Thing is all the spinners in the period you mention (except O'Keefe) were crap
And this was not exactly a good thing. So why are they determined to repeat that mistake?I'm not convinced it was just that. Conditions were genuinely awful for spin bowling outside every other Sydney game. Made the spinners look even worse than they were.
The only time I remember him scoring runs was when he played a pretty domineering innings in an OD at North Sydney Oval. This year: 235 runs @35.83, best 88 and 20 wickets at 21.6, best 5/41
Last year: 373 runs at 33.9, best 99 and 22 wickets at 24.68, best 6/36
I'm genuinely surprised to see he's averaged that much, I don't have any memories of him scoring runs at all.
