**Official** England in New Zealand 28 Nov-18 Dec 2024 - 3 Tests

Days of Grace

International Captain
Southee gets a wicket to assure this place for the 3rd test.

Stead: “Tim showed great heart in adverse circumstances, always running in hard, proving a great example for the younger players.”

Dunno about the test match, but I rolled back the years down the park, bowling off a full run up and taking a wicket or two. Anyway, back at the ground and definitely owing Flibberty a drink once I’ve reacquainted myself with the family.

It's strange though that even though England could whitewash this series, I still wouldn't feel like we've really made much progress towards making the side stronger for the next Ashes. I almost feel like we could do with having to really fight a series or 2.

Still time though

Carse and Bethell have been definite finds here, and Atkinson continues, Brook looks imperious too.

Because of the chances in the first test, and tbh today, this batting effort doens't feel especially repeatable.

Carse and Atkinson taking wickets, and high-quality ones too, like Carse vs Williamson yesterday, in a country where England often fail to make the bowling work is a big positive for future tours for me.

Southee getting another English batsman out in the 90s, the wily old fox is striking back here, just a pity he couldn't do it earlier.

Better late than never though.

Duckett's 7th 80+ score without a ton. That doesn't yet reach the top 15 England players, but most of those ahead of him have played a lot more than his 31 tests.
