Big effort from the Sri Lankan bowling. Prabath being able to hold up an end and churn out overs is massive for them. I enjoy watching him bowl, I think he is coming into his own on overseas wickets. A complete gun in Galle obviously!

I've learned my lesson ! How we bat in our first innings will determine how good a day this was 😅

Kunara was excellent, I believe he is now our third highest wicket taking seamer

Generally better to judge a pitch/score after both teams have had a go but both teams landed a few blows today!

I cant recall ever seeing the same DRS situation that happened today - granted I dont follow every single test ever match played

It's a really nice change from having a bunch of blokes who could/would never get those scores.

Details please?
Ryan Rickelton was on 98, hoping to get to his first test 100. Looking a bit nervous the poor guy was hit on the pads and given out LBW. Unfortunately in real-time it looked like a decent decision. Not immediately the batter decided to review, more in hope than anything. Lo and beold he had got the tiniest edge on the bat and the decision was overturned. He then went on to get the 100.

Yup. They could all still kick on more but at least a lot of the new guys have now got the 100 behind their name. We building something potentially good and maybe even getting competition for places again.

Which was always going to happen with losing good senior players & not replacing them well enough whilst we had some left or maybe it was just a talent bubble.

Comms box saying 312 is the lowest first innings score to win a test at this venue. That said, it looks a slightly spicy deck.
I don't know if you posted this in the wrong thread... but this is contradicted by the last Test played at this venue by these two very teams.

This has been a good innings from Verreynne as well. Its nice to see the 'youngsters' consistently contributing....
Defo.

Different circumstances but that 2nd innings when he batted so well with the tail Vs Windies when the game was in the balance was such a good sign too.
