Yup, it's the capital for attritional cricket in SA. It's why Kepler Wessels did so well for so many years thereSt George's is also not the place to become over aggressive. You get yourself in and slowly build you innings as you get used to the track. It's not the place where free flowing batting is easy. But is the place you can lose a ton of wickets quickly.
Especially if Rickelton can kick on from this innings. Someone will need to make way for Mulder when he returns, and Bedingham's place is looking less secure right now.Things are going downhill fast for Bedders.
And Bedingham is no Graeme Pollock either to play like a maverick in the Eastern Province.Yup, it's the capital for attritional cricket in SA. It's why Kepler Wessels did so well for so many years there
I mean he did opt out of the SA20 draft to go to NZ to establish himself. I think he cares, but he is confident bordering on arrogant about his ability to take on bowlers. It's like he doesn't rate the Sri Lankan attack.Bedingham feels like a man with extreme confidence to the point of arrogance. And has done well bullying FC attacks but has never learnt to build an innings properly.
Either that or just doesn't care to be playing cricket for SA.
Could be.I'm wondering if Rickelton coming in at 3 had anything to do with keeping the left/right hand combination at the top of the order? When de Zorzi lost his wicket first.
He did bat at 5 in the second innings of the last match. 6 is too far down in the order for him, but 5 is maybe OK, especially with the confidence that he must have from his form over the past few years.I guess the only downside is Bavuma goes to 5 and has been enjoying batting higher in the order.
I think that is ok with us batting Jansen at 8. So Temba shouldn't get totally stuck with no one left like it was under previous coaching regimes.Could be.
Conrad was very big on Stubbs at 3 but maybe they feel best utilising what we've got is getting Ryan batting where he is used to batting.
