Should bear in mind Paris just took better figures in the very same match where Doggett last played. Abbott is an even more insane selection because he offers nothing that Paris doesn't.

Tremain, Bartlett, Sketetee, McAndrew, Johnson, O'Neill, Sutherland, Paris, Richardson, Morris. Might be forgetting some more too.

Admittedly some of those are injured, but still....

He did just only come back from injury in fairness and even in that game he had an injury scare. Much as he is the next best bowler available, I wouldn't pick him just yet.

Still, there had to be better options than Doggett or Abbott.

Boland is more than adequate replacement given the conditions of the test, being pink ball, day night etc. But as an Indian fan, I would be bloody scared if you had Jhye Richardson replacing Haze here. IT would be like how you had Cummins, fully fit and raring to go, replacing Starc in India back in 2017.

The bowling selections do once again prove that the Shield means absolutely nothing to our selectors (I wonder if they even watch it?) I'm sure Abbott's ODI experience must be counting towards his selection here. Yet he's been crap there too. His effort against England really should have been the end of his international career.

IT would be like how you had Cummins, fully fit and raring to go, replacing Starc in India back in 2017.

Boland has been injured and only played three FC matches this season. In those he has collective figures of 4/245. At 35 it's very far from clear he's the best replacement and can replicate his prior form.
