Matthew Breetzke has replaced wiaan for the second test. Suggests it will be a 7/4 split for the second test.
The other possibility is Muthusamy as a second spinner should that work for the conditions. That would weaken the batting as he's not as good as Mulder, but that's possibly less of an issue given the batting capabilities of this tail.

Possible but unlikely given the way the pitch has played this season in the 4 day games. The Warriors have had a field day.

But if I was in SA shoes, I would want to still be batting until tomorrow morning, when a chasing score of say 550 is what SL need. SL batting has clearly been woeful first innings, but a very huge chase would be entirely notional.
Regardless of whether SA want to bat tomorrow, I'd be looking to pile on the pain and not bother with bowling today. You don't often get a chance to follow the Bill Lawry dictum and set a team an enormous target while still leaving an almost impossible amount of time to bat out.

Exactly my point. If I was an SA bowler, and not having Mulder available, I want to know that I am not going to have to work unnecessarily hard over perhaps nigh on 2 days. Leaving it until tomorrow allows for a bit more wear and Maharaj to come into the game and bowl serious overs from one end if necessary, too.

Day 5 has very bad weather predicted. SA will declare just after tea today.
