So the two guys Andries Gous and Milind Kumar responsible for getting USA to the top of the table have been dropped from team ever since Stuart Law was dismissed as coach for favoritism and ever since, USA have started losing with an obviously weaker team. Dirty politics.

He’s made his way back into the side, this time as a specialist #7 averaging 9
Genuinely thought about that guy the other day, well appreciated update

On the subject of Singapore cricket, don't think it would be the worst idea to ask Hugo Burdon if he would be interested in playing over there. Was born there (according to crapinfo at least) hasn't exactly starred in the few 50 over games he has played for Queensland but has made plenty of runs for the 2nds and in Brisbane first grade.

Wouldn't quite say he's another Tim David (who actually went ok in his couple of bbl appearances before he played for Singapore) but I bet he would probably go pretty well for your team

That’s an interesting one. His middle name is Raffles - a definite connection to Singapore.

Nigeria 🇳🇬 v Ivory Coast 🇨🇮 is a fixture you’re more likely to see in soccer, but check out this scorecard.

St Helena having a team in that tournament is pretty impressive given their population must be less than 5,000 people. I wonder what qualifies one to play for such 'nations'?

Yes, good question. According to the St Helena Cricket website it is the most popular participation sport on the island. They've had a league since 1903.

The team all seem to be islanders, but a lot of Saint Helenans and descendants live in South Africa and the UK, so perhaps some of the players are based there?

EDIT: Article with some more detail about St Helena Cricket from the last qualifying cycle - sounds like all the players are based on the island: https://emergingcricket.com/insight/the-small-island-with-big-cricketing-ambitions/.

I had just seen the score on the BBC website and wondered if someone had made mention of it, and hey presto, you did! I wonder how many people play cricket in Ivory Coast? You would have thought a fair few more might have played cricket in Nigeria.
Ivory Coast record lowest total in men's T20I history - bowled out for seven runs - BBC Sport
Nigeria for sure have a stronger program. They even poached Steve Tikolo as head coach of the men's team for a while.

Nigeria played at the global qualifier for the 2020(1) T20 World Cup in place of the then banned Zimbabwe, they lost every game, but it’s clearly much more of a thing there than in any French-speaking African country with the possible exception of Rwanda where the game is growing fast (Rwanda and Mozambique of course being two countries who have chosen to be in the Commonwealth despite no history of British colonisation)

Ivory Coast play Botswana tonight. All the best to them, can't be easy.

St Helena play Sierra Leone and they may fancy their chances.

I sent a message to the Ivory Coast Cricket Coaching FB page, which appears to be the only Ivorian cricket page, wishing them all the best. I suspect they're getting a lot of messages but they did respond. "Thank you very much for your message and for your support. Your message is a great comfort for us in the face of the beating we received against Nigeria"
