Kapil's batting getting seriously underrated like his bowling.

He scored 40 or more 51 times.
Other indian batsmen played similar number of innings,

Sehwag 69 times 40+
Pujara 68 times
Ganguly 73 times
Vengsarkar 68.

Kapil's numbers are almost specialist category.

Can't determine if this was supposed to be serious.

With an average of 31? Really?

I mean, Jaisimha, Wadekar, Pankaj Roy, Contractor, Yashpal Sharma, etc all averaged 31 odd. Botham also averages only 2 runs more. Kapil almost would had made the team as a specialist bat and he in general had a good rate of conversation for 40+ and 50+ scores, including 8 centuries.

This week on pick an arbitrary number that supports my conclusion.

Otherwise people like you will continue to argue, Imran was consistent Kapil was unreliable... When the truth is opposite.

40 is arbitrary.. But its a decent contribution from a player in an innings, and if he does regularly.. And very close to specialists than other allrounders, you can not say he was inconsistent or unreliable anymore.

Yes because I have definitely argued that about Kapil.

Sangakkara as a specialist bat is more valuable than Kapil dev the all rounder. Sangakkara as a part time wicket keep and a batsman also is way ahed of Kapil.

As an all rounder he is in Sobers, Kallis, Imran, Gilchrist stratum.

I think Botham was in specialist batsman territory before he became a waster. Kapil was a no7.

Kapil was neither ATG with bat or ball in Tests. Botham was for a brief period, but then became trash. Sobers, Imran, Hadlee and Kallis kept at least one of their skills ATG throughout their career. So were Gilchrist and Sangakkara.
