Actually in the 1900’s and 1910’s scoring rate in tests was at its fastest until the 21st century.Trumper's S/R was 67/68 according to this source. That's just too good for a batter playing in the 1900's.
Only 6 players from that decade in the top 100 tho (if Woolley, Macartney and Barnsley counted; shouldn't be counted as they played significantly more tests in the next decade).Actually in the 1900’s and 1910’s scoring rate in tests was at its fastest until the 21st century.
@SillyCowCorner1 help me man. Mine isn't working.@Red_Ink_Squid @Magrat Garlick @nightprowler10 @Spark
Could somebody please move this to Playercomparisons?
Why are you conveniently ignoring the 1910’s where Trumper did play?Only 6 players from that decade in the top 100 tho (if Woolley, Macartney and Barnsley counted; shouldn't be counted as they played significantly more tests in the next decade).
And also,
Run per over in 1900-1910:- 2.89 (S/R=48.17)
Runs per over in 1910-1999:- 2.68 (S/R=44.67)

Only played 10 tests and didn't play in more than half of it ig?Why are you conveniently ignoring the 1910’s where Trumper did play?
Not arguing against the fact that 1900's and 1910's are the fastest scoring era in 20th century, but other decades are still close enough.Besides we’re takking about eras here, why would you take a sample of 10 years vs a sample of 90 years lol.
No duh, excluding the faster players lowers the overall strike rate…Only played 10 tests and didn't play in more than half of it ig?
If 1899-1914 is considered, the RPO would go from 2.89 to 2.90.

Some of the fastest scoring decades since 1920 in 20th century.

Also 1900's and 1910's S/R is boosted because of Victor Trumper (and Clem Hill); would be closer if they're excluded.
Just saying that Trumper was way ahead of others even in a comparatively high scoring era. Besides, Trumper played in 38 of all 48 matches in that decade. So, he played a bigger role to boost the RPO compared to other fast scoring player in other eras.No duh, excluding the faster players lowers the overall strike rate…
Bit sad that a top 3 FC cricketer ever and the bloke with the longest test career and oldest bloke to play a test career is likely completely unknown to the vast majority of cricket fans.That there have been 17 books/booklets devoted to Trumper published in the last ten years and just one on Rhodes says it all for me - that said at least the one on Rhodes is a definitive biography, and we still haven't had one of those on Vic, though I believe that one may be being worked on
