I guess this was last test for Ajaz since Newzealand are only playing against Pakistan in subcontinent as per next WTC schedule.

Nah there's plenty of doom and gloom. Gary Stead just coached NZ to their greatest cricketing achievement ever. He's going to be coach until we're all dead.
The good thing is that with AI, Gary can keep coaching NZ and trotting out 'little old New Zealand can't expect too much' pretty much forever.

We've got a white ball tour starting in Sri Lanka this weekend. Might get rolled for 20 or suffer some major injuries.
Ah sh*t, didn't know that. Injuries would be the absolute worst. I love ODIs but I would absolutely advocate for resting anyone and everyone who is likely to, or possibly going to play England.

from NZC about squad to Sri Lanka T20I / ODI:

"Tom Blundell, Devon Conway, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Will O’Rourke, Rachin Ravindra, Tim Southee and Kane Williamson were not considered for selection as they prioritise the upcoming three-Test series against England, starting in Christchurch on November 28."

Also Henry not in Sri Lanka T20I / ODI squad.

I can't believe I ate the whole thing
I'd like to see this side with BC regulars batting in the same position they would normally do if it was a full strength ODI XI

1. Robinson
2. Young
3. Foxcroft
4. Hay+
5. Chapman
6. Phillips
7. Bracewell
8. Santner*
9. Smith
10. Foulkes
11. Ferguson

Loads of bowling, and batting when you consider Foulkes averages 19 in List A (bats 8) and has an FC 50

Well yeah, WagnerBall (in the sense of bowling short quite a lot) was also a feature of the Eden Park tests in 2012/13 and 2013/14. It's hard to definitively pin down when it "officially" started.

What's not really arguable though, is that Wagner's grip on a spot in the test team had actually weakened in the last 12 months of Baz's tenure.
Wagner directly credits baz for wagnerball in his book

Yeah, it was the Eden Park India test in 2014, where at the end of the game McCullum said something to the effect of "Y'know, I think bowling short could be your niche."
