I know I'm biased, but I really do think Liam Scott balances your side really well
Shouldn't really be the case considering they already have all-rounders Manenti and McAndrew as 2 of their best players. Adding an extra #batdeep spot would help anyone though I guess

McAndrew is about Stuart Clark's age when he came good. Or Ryan Harris. He might have 3 or 4 good years left. Problem for him is the incumbents are still doing well and the fc competition strong (when they're not injured).

Am I wrong or does McAndrew have reasonable pace?

Bowls a heavy ball whenever I have seen him

True. But while McAndrew is a good bowler, he's definitely not on the level of Clark or Harris. They were ATG level bowlers for the brief periods they were around and good

Nobody predicted Clark’s success

Harris rocked up, bowled 150 and people took notice

The way I remember it is Ryan Harris was pretty average for SA for many years, then he moved to Qld around 30 and became a God. Maybe McAndrew should move to Qld?

He can't match Harris imo but its not a stretch to think he could be close to Clark's level.

Weird how people forget how good Clark was. He went toe to toe with McGrath for the brief year or so they were together. Probably outbowled him tbh. I love McAndrew but there's no way he's averaging 24 in Test cricket like Clark did

Clark had an interesting career

He’s a Sutherland boy and spent the first part of his career trying to copy former Sutherland captain Len Pascoe

Achieved success after abandoning that approach in favour of his fellow Sutherland opening bowler Glenn McGrath

I do remember and he was good. Even if McAndrew averaged say 28 I'd think it a win. The comparison with Clark and Harris is more that a player can peak and debut in his early 30s and do well. Not so much that he has to be as good as the other two.

Kind of indicative of our opening batting alternatives that a teenager with 6 games and a retired vet are realistic options. I'd even consider Bobby Simpson at this point.

Stop being un-Australian. I for one welcome Davey back into the side. He embodies the spirit of Captain Cook scoring a triple century against the Japanese at Gallipoli.

Agreed, he's a quality player. Bowling really is coming along nicely, hasn't quite got that big score with the bat yet that I definitely think he can do, but it doesn't feel too far away honestly, tends to gun it whenever he is back playing for Glenelg. Would definitely be giving him a soild run in the Shield team this year.

Not quite. Yeah it's true he was pretty ordinary for South Australia for a fair while, but it was his last season here where he really took the big step forward, found another couple yards for sure.

Then the South Australian brains trust of the time dicked him around come contract time, wouldn't give him more than the bare minimum deal he was already on despite the vast improvement he had undergone, and then he went up to Queensland. Still one of the worst cricketing decisions made here, and that title has stiff competition

Also, great to see Spencer Johnson back now. Played for West Torrens in a 50 over game last Sunday, picked up 4/42
