The ones I watched?

Ambrose
Steyn
McGrath
Wasim
Waqar
Walsh
Anderson
A list with some of those names on it that excludes Donald will rile up a few people.

Prioritising longevity over quality not everyone's cup of tea, but fair enough. Donald is getting a bit harshly penalised due to RSA not playing cricket early career though. Most of the people on this list retired at about the same age, including Donald.

How highly do you rate Marshall? His body of work is not that much more substantive than Donald's, without the banned excuse. Very similar number of playing years if you exclude a couple of tests that he only played in due to WSC bans.

I am having trouble to think of more than 25 ATG pacers really..... Let's see:
Marshall, McGrath, Hadlee, Imran, Steyn, Ambrose, Akram, Donald, Garner, Lillee, Lindwall, Holding, Trueman, Waqar, Pollock, Davidson, Walsh, Cummins. If you want to count as pacer, Barnes and Spofforth if you want. On including Anderson, Roberts, Rabada, Bumrah, etc.; you will have to count Ashwin, Grimmett, Laker, etc as ATG as well.
I think I just have guys like Anderson and Roberts higher than you do tbh.

Well, for the longest time many non-SC fans used to think having Murali in there was disrespectful to Warne (some probably still do) so not ruling out a token change of heart towards Ashwin some time in the next fifty years.
that was because a lot of Non-SC fans believed Murali to be a chucker because misinformation was prevelant, Ashwin isn't hindered by such allegations.

I don't think so. I rate both of them ATG, but while doing that, I rate Ashwin and Grimmett ATG as well. Laker..... Not sure. But do those 2.

Maybe if Ashwin finally overcomes his reticence and shows evidence on a televised broadcast that he's been playing with a defective left eye and just the one kidney all along 🤷‍♂️

Having not read the preceding posts, this one isn't close. Donald is right up there with Lillee and Imran, and well above where Ashwin is as a bowler.

I only count around 12-13 pacers tops. Agree on spinners.
def more than 13, I can think of 15-20 off the top of my head, Lindwall/Trueman/Lillee/Mcgrath/Marshall/Holding/Garner/Ambrose/Walsh/Roberts/Hadlee/Imran/Wasim/Donald/Steyn/Pollock/Anderson/Barnes right off the top of my head

I have been warning you guys about where all this fake Ashwin hype would lead.

Holding, Garner, Walsh, Pollock, Anderson, Roberts don't qualify for me. They are regular greats.

I never saw Marshall or Hadlee bowl, probably the very fag end of their careers, same with Imran. Kapil played till 1994 and so I recall him playing far more. And the thing about longevity is, for me, to a certain point it also shows adaptability between different eras. Donald, to me, basically played in only one era.

Anderson and Walsh ranking above Donald is surely not serious?
I am ranking careers more than just on ability tbf. Also, I do think I saw some failures of Donald that play a role in me not rating him as high. I actually think I might rate Pollock an ATG as well, as he kinda reinvented himself to help his side across eras.
