Ravichandran Ashwin vs Allan Donald

People say Allan Donald >>>> Ashwin because he looked the part and was just a beautiful, brilliant bowler (and childhood hero of mine). But he wasn't exactly brilliant abroad and a spud against Australia which was the real rival. Ashwin is an order of magnitude more impactful which is reflected in hiw overall wicket total, WPM and increasingly, average. And that's before the batting.

Give me an argument for Donald beyond the aesthetics.

Donald averages 28 in Australia, 23 in England, 16 in India and 24 in NZ...... Can't see any reason behind his away record being bad. Ashwin really is not a great bowler in most tough places away.

England through the 90s were decent against pace but below par in virtually every other department.

You reckon he’s a better cricketer than Murali? Similar bowling averages but Ashwin averages more with the bat
No, but he's not miles away either. Murali was a disaster in India and Australia (worse than Ashwin anywhere). The only reason Murali is ahead is longevity.

Wickets are wickets, wins are wins.

Ashwin has 500+ test wickets at an average lower than any modern spinner not named Murali. Show the man some respect. Plus the batting.
If only the BCCI showed him the same respect instead of dropping him for away tours throughout his career. Making Ashwin wear a bib at the WTC final was humiliating for an ATG bowler.
