Border was an all conditions genius who mastered batting everywhere from 3-6, had dominating series against the quartet, Botham and Willis, Imran Khan/Sarfaraz, peak Hadlee. How is this a serious question

Well, Younis is arguably the best batsman ever in Asia and Border did bat plenty at 5 and 6, that too for a pretty weak lineup. The question isn't who is better, ofcourse Border is, but how big is that perceived gap.

But Border batted for a significant time at 3 and 4 and has a very good record. And Border even at 5 and 6 carried a very weak lineup. Border’s all conditions record and versatility easily wins him this

I thought “Border but it’s close” would win. I thought Dravid was rated very close to Border and “Dravid but it’s close” won the Dravid vs Younis poll
Personally, I would have Border at the lower end of a tier ahead of Dravid and Younis, who would be in the upper end of a tier below him.

i.e I voted not close since I have them in different tiers.

I mean, A can be close to B and B close to C, doesn't mean A is also close to C; especially when A is ahead and C is below B.

PlayerComparisons

International Vice-Captain
Tier 1: Tendulkar, Lara, Viv, Sobers

Tier 2: Gavaskar, Smith, Chappell, Ponting, Sangakkara, Kallis, Border, Waugh

Tier 3: Dravid, Miandad, Younis, Kohli, De Villiers, Root, Williamson, G Smith, Boycott

Hardest one to rate is Dravid who I might put at the bottom of tier 2 on another day
