ThisAllan Border every day of the week.
Well, Younis is arguably the best batsman ever in Asia and Border did bat plenty at 5 and 6, that too for a pretty weak lineup. The question isn't who is better, ofcourse Border is, but how big is that perceived gap.Border was an all conditions genius who mastered batting everywhere from 3-6, had dominating series against the quartet, Botham and Willis, Imran Khan/Sarfaraz, peak Hadlee. How is this a serious question
But Border batted for a significant time at 3 and 4 and has a very good record. And Border even at 5 and 6 carried a very weak lineup. Border’s all conditions record and versatility easily wins him thisWell, Younis is arguably the best batsman ever in Asia and Border did bat plenty at 5 and 6, that too for a pretty weak lineup. Why?Surprised by this result but think I agree with it.
Younis is probably closer to guys like Graeme Smith/Root/Boycott/Greenidge.
I thought “Border but it’s close” would win. I thought Dravid was rated very close to Border and “Dravid but it’s close” won the Dravid vs Younis pollWhy?
Personally, I would have Border at the lower end of a tier ahead of Dravid and Younis, who would be in the upper end of a tier below him.I thought “Border but it’s close” would win. I thought Dravid was rated very close to Border and “Dravid but it’s close” won the Dravid vs Younis poll
Yea I think I agree with thatPersonally, I would have Border at the lower end of a tier ahead of Dravid and Younis, who would be in the upper end of a tier below him.
i.e I voted not close since I have them in different tiers.
I mean, A can be close to B and B close to C, doesn't mean A is also close to C; especially when A is ahead and C is below B.I thought “Border but it’s close” would win. I thought Dravid was rated very close to Border and “Dravid but it’s close” won the Dravid vs Younis poll
Yeah,I mean, A can be close to B and B close to C, doesn't mean A is also close to C; especially when A is ahead and C is below B.
I wouldn't rate Graeme Smith that high but respectable.Tier 1: Tendulkar, Lara, Viv, Sobers
Tier 2: Gavaskar, Smith, Chappell, Ponting, Sangakkara, Kallis, Border, Waugh
Tier 3: Dravid, Miandad, Younis, Kohli, De Villiers, Root, Williamson, G Smith, Boycott
Hardest one to rate is Dravid who I might put at the bottom of tier 2 on another day
Agreed. Recently Smith turned into the most overrated player here. He definitely was quite close to Hayden and Sehwag and not in a different tierI wouldn't rate Graeme Smith that high but respectable.
That's very true. I think there should be a thread about the most underrated and overrated players in cricketweb.Agreed. Recently Smith turned into the most overrated player here. He definitely was quite close to Hayden and Sehwag and not in a different tier
