As for the OP:

Hobbs
Gavaskar
Bradman
Sobers
Shakib
Andy Flower
Imran
Hadlee
Steyn
Rashid Khan
Murali

Batting depth and plenty of bowling options for any pitch. No weaknesses.

You have an unassailable top four followed with batting depth. Hadlee and Steyn are a fantastic new ball pair, Imran and Steyn with reverse. Murali, Rashid and Shakib are three spin options. Sobers is bowling support.

Australia repeated twice.

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Trying to pick a balanced combo. I think the most likely is:

Hutton
Gavaskar
Bradman
Sangakkara
Flower
Sobers
Shakib
Hadlee
Wasim
Rashid
Steyn

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Could swap Marshall for Steyn and G. Pollock for Sobers

This is such a tricky one! I think Bradman, Flower and Hadlee were my only definite picks. Was really difficult between having Gavaskar opening and Sangakkara at 4 and my pick. Think Jayasuriya and Hobbs might make a slightly more balanced paring.

Was contemplating also between Kallis, Shaun Pollock and Steyn but I think that one of Hadlee, Pollock or Wasim at 7 is a bit of a stretch. Kallis is also more than capable as a 4th seamer.

Obviously also very difficult leaving out Warne and Murali but Bradman has to play and Khan and Shakib are the only real options for Afganistan and Bangladesh.

Also made sure that the seamers I picked were reasonably balanced with Hadlee's accuracy and stamina mixed with the left-arm pace and reverse swing of Wasim and the pace and conventional swing of Marshall.

My team is as follows:
1. Jack Hobbs (Eng)
2. Sanath Jayasuriya (SL)
3. Don Bradman (Aus)
4. Sachin Tendulkar (Ind)
5. Jacques Kallis (SA)
6. Andy Flower (WK) (Zim)
7. Shakib Al-Hasan (Ban)
8. Richard Hadlee (NZ)
9. Wasim Akram (Pak)
10. Malcolm Marshall (WI)
11. Rashid Khan (Afg)
12th man: Kevin O'Brien (Ire)

Jayasuriya is kinda just alright at Tests though. Definitely not in the Sachin, Sunny, Sanga convo. Definitely Gavaskar for him and Sangakkara for Sachin (might as keep, as Flower was an average keeper at best).

Sub out Shakib for Tamim imo. No need for that much bowling.

Possibly a few questions about the 5-6-7 but the side has a gun 6-man bowling attack and bats very deep with Hadlee at 9 and Marshall at 10.

Don't see the appeal Kallis has over Sachin, especially since you can have Steyn over Bumrah.
