First saw him in the 2003 CWC when I was a budding teen. It's amazing how long he lasted. We don't make them like him anymore.

First there was the Grace, then came Hobbs. Bradman ruled the roost before Sobers, Imran, Tendulkar and Murali brought other countries to the top table. Jimmy now joins that great pantheon of era-spanning players. Farewell!

Amazing cricketer. As a predominantly swing bowler, playing key roles in your team winning away in India and Australia is as good as it can get and he has done that. He has also kept improving with age somehow, the ****er. Test Cricket will be poorer without him. Wish him all the best for whatever he is upto next.

In all seriousness incredible perseverance, fitness and skills. Have to have massive respect for him. Don't begrudge him being held up alongside the ATG bowlers

Probably one of the players I least ike(cause my friends build him up too much, as a person he seems lovely and nice enough). However astonishing longevity from a fitness perspective, and to his credit, he got better with age, across conditions as well. A model of perseverance.

Made his Test debut a month before my eldest was born - she's just graduated from Uni!! Amazing longevity and his stats from his 30th birthday onwards are just obscene.

The list of players who have had amazing careers yet come and gone during this period is pretty ridiculous too....Dhoni, Amla, Steyn, KP, Broad, ABDV, Warner etc etc
