Funny, reading this thinking "yeah, he was probably the best slipper I've seen too" while watching Cricket Gold highlights. Next minute Graeme Hick edged one off McDermott and Waugh spilled it. Maybe the first one I've seen him drop. For only a single fielder, Mark Waugh was the best slipper ever. Didn’t only take insane catches but made them look easy. Supreme athlete
My favourite memory of him is Waugh leaping across like superman and a taking a catch in the slips in the 99 WC finalFunny, reading this thinking "yeah, he was probably the best slipper I've seen too" while watching Cricket Gold highlights. Fielding/catching stats aren't very reliable at all tbfIt's just running on hot confirmation bias, that's all. You can watch a million games and come away with a completely wrong impression of what happened if no one's doing any counting.
Aamer Sohail...Such a legendary specialist 1st slipI think the Pakistan 90s slip cordon was amazing. @Pap Finn Keighl
Harsh to call out TJB like thisIt's just running on hot confirmation bias, that's all. You can watch a million games and come away with a completely wrong impression of what happened if no one's doing any counting.
Opposite IMO @Prince EWSIt's just running on hot confirmation bias, that's all. You can watch a million games and come away with a completely wrong impression of what happened if no one's doing any counting.
Without doubtOpposite IMO @Prince EWS
When it comes to catching/fielding/keeping they eye test tends to be more reliable than statistics
Yeah that has to give the bowlers that little boost knowing everything will be taken... Also encourages the bowlers to keep it up there. The Aussie cordon in 90s was the best and also at the time when they had Boon at short leg you knew any chance close in was being taken. Supreme team and bowlers knew chances would be taken.
Tell that to Damien Fleming hattrick ballYeah that has to give the bowlers that little boost knowing everything will be taken... Also encourages the bowlers to keep it up there.
.we both agree that Warne wasn't the greatest of the lot. Especially when he moved in to first., he wasn't up to that level.Tell that to Damien Fleming hattrick ball
Slip catching is terrible these daysGreat cordons of the past would be average ones of today likely.
