Isn't most of that appearance fees for LIV though? He's only won 2 tournaments and one is a Seniors event.
He doesn’t get paid LIV appearance fees

He’s won 3 tournaments including the British Masters a couple of years ago

He had famously never won on Tour until that British Masters in 2021. His only other win is this Seniors comp (unless you want to include a Challenge Tour event in 2001). No, the bulk of his money has indeed come from LIV (£9m signing on fee). I don't blame him for going, your tweet outlines exactly the stupidity of the money involved. When a boke with the record of Bland suddenly gets offered money like that, you start to realise why they had to pay $600m for Rahm.

Stupid money, stupid tournaments.

Steve Stricker the Champions Tour money list in 2023 with earnings of $4 million

Bland is by far the best over 50 golfer in the world and is being paid market rates

Bland was eligible for the Champions Tour last year and would have made millions anyway

He’s a lot better than Steve Alker (who has made a fortune in a couple of years) as he was 50 in the world at 49 while Alker was 700+

Going to send an invite to Nelly and Charley to come on our golf tour next year. The ability to stick 3 balls in the water will see Nelly fit right in on the golfing front, whilst Charley's smoking/drinking antics will be perfect for the evenings.

Proper course for the Women's US Open, only 4 under par after the first round. Hope they set up Pinehurst in a similar manner (it was weird in 2014 when Kaymer shot -9 and won by 8).

@Molehill you watching the DPWT event in Hamburg?

Everyone is raving about the course

Then again, they’re also raving about the city and it’s the first time I have heard Hamburg complemented since the Beatles

I wen to Hamburg once, I don't really remember it. I suspect I'm not alone.

I've been flicking around between the tournaments. But Hamburg seems weird, 4 par 5's on the back 9 and 6 in all seems overkill, and some of them are just stupid in length, especially with it being so soft. That was quite a round from de Bruyn yesterday though.

I suspect the Women's Open won't be that interesting and I'll watch more from Canada. Hoping this could be the breakthough for Bobby Mac who is going well.

Hopefully MacIntyre can close it out

I actually like his game more than Fitzpatrick’s

Minjee should win this comfortably, the chasing pack don't look like making many birdies. Though she did just drop a shot with a 5 footer

Failed to hit a fairway by the 11th hole and missing 3 putts within 5 feet. Saso now leads despite not playing very well either. Minjee has the best short game and I still fancy her to win, as I'm typing she has just hit into the drink!
Ally ewing having a great round and can put some pressure on the leaders with an under par final 2 holes.

Great to see Bobby Mac win, and with his Dad as caddie too. He'd been hitting the ball well, but had an all time great week on the greens to get it done.

The Women's Open was a bit of a farce really, survival of the fittest. Saso has 2 wins, both US Opens and now for different countries too. Shocking back 9 for Minjee when pretty much in control.

A win for LIV on DPWT as Canter gets his first victory. Not sure LIV has really worked out for him, he had seemed on a decent progression path before taking that somewhat surprising step. Good to see close friend Eddie Pep congratulate him having had their differences regarding LIV, clearly patched things up.

LIV was a blessing for a guy like Canter

Earned good money, improved his game and is now a DPWT winner in his 142nd start

As Pieters said last week, LIV is 10 times harder than your average DPWT event & playing regularly against better players won’t do you any harm

Really not sure. I'm certain Canter would've won on the DPWT in the last 2 years had he been eligible, he had gone close a number of times before switching. As for earning good money, I'd say given rather than earned is a better description and he was really just making up the numbers.

Anyway, seems he wants to improve his world ranking now, so that would suggest he won't be playing too much more on LIV. Interesting to see that Wiesberger was 2nd, who gave up on LIV.

Both were relegated & failed to qualify in Abu Dhabi this year

Canter is a reserve player and has played 2 LIV events this year already

DPWT is really struggling & gradually relaxing stance on LIV players

Canter qualified because he'd played very little LIV golf anyway. The stances aren't relaxing, the players are finding loopholes (and still paying their fines).

I see that MacIntyre has now qualified for the Signature event this week, although whether he turns up remains to be seen.....sounds like he was heading to Scotland for a party!!

US Open next week, what are the LIV boys up to? Rahm looked badly in need of some competitive golf at the PGA, I don't think he's seen any since then (and competitive is a loose description of LIV anyway for the boys at the top).

They’re playing in Houston this week
