I think Murali's peak between 2003 to 2006 is also up there. Taking 7.6 wickets a test is just something else.
From start of 1998 to end of 2008, he picked 631 wickets in 90 matches. That's 7 wickets a match for 11 years.I think Murali's peak between 2003 to 2006 is also up there. Taking 7.6 wickets a test is just something else.
Yup. If he did better in either Australia or India, he would be the greatest bowler of all time.From start of 1998 to end of 2008, he picked 631 wickets in 90 matches. That's 7 wickets a match for 11 years.
Both and I agree. Without question would be the GOATYup. If he did better in either Australia or India, he would be the greatest bowler of all time.
* in your opinionThat's why he isn't.
Isn't that what we all go by?* in your opinion
Distinction without a difference IMOMurali is comfortably the greatest bowler. You can all suck eggs.
Best bowler... that's a different debate.
Well, if he had a similar success rate in India or Australia, I could forgive one country as a blemish for him being so dominant elsewhere. Two is too much and those two being the two best batting lineups of his era.Both and I agree. Without question would be the GOAT
If he even had one decent series in either country he'd get my vote but he didn't.Well, if he had a similar success rate in India or Australia, I could forgive one country as a blemish for him being so dominant elsewhere. Two is too much and those two being the two best batting lineups of his era.
Define decent. I thought he did decent in India in 2005.If he even had one decent series in either country he'd get my vote but he didn't.
Coincidentally this is the same reason I don't rate his peak as the best of all time.Well, if he had a similar success rate in India or Australia, I could forgive one country as a blemish for him being so dominant elsewhere. Two is too much and those two being the two best batting lineups of his era.
Lara generally owned Murali, but one of my favorite Murali spells was in the 4th innings of a test in 2002 in WI when he continually embarassed Lara who was struggling to read him.And what Lara did to him.
Decent or good = sub 30 average + sub 50 sr.Define decent. I thought he did decent in India in 2005.
Ok sure.Decent or good = sub 30 average + sub 50 sr.
For a batsman I consider a good series as one where they average 40+ generally.Ok sure.
