Can you help with their adjusted averages? Thanks.Pollock is a borderline ATG bowler, not much gap between him and Kapil in bowling.

Good to know.It was all in your brain.
Pollock 24Can you help with their adjusted averages? Thanks.
Wow didn’t know their adjusted averages are so close. Thanks.Pollock 24
Kapil 26

This logic doesn’t apply to SA pace bowlers imo .Yeah that Pollock guy really benefited from playing the majority of his career in the 00’s
So do we just ignore his entire away record? This logic doesn’t apply to SA pace bowlers imo .
I think Pollock was a comfortably better bowler than Kapil and Kapil was a better batsman than Pollock.Pollock 24
Kapil 26
At one point Pollock had the best average ever for any bowler with 200+ wickets. There was a time during their playing careers when talking about Pollock and McGrath and greatness in the same sentence wouldn't have raised eyebrows. Pollock was that good, but faded later in his career.
Pollock always been a league below Donald. There was a time during their playing careers when talking about Pollock and McGrath and greatness in the same sentence wouldn't have raised eyebrows. Pollock was that good, but faded later in his career.
When Pollock had 210 wickets and averaged under 20 the conversations were very different. McGrath at the time was averaging 22 at a near identical strike rate. Pollock faded, McGrath kept getting better. Those other names don't have much to do with the comparison I was making.Pollock always been a league below Donald.
If Donald had the batting ability of Pollock, he would have been hailed as greatest cricketer of the generation by many of us.
Akram, Donald, Ambrose, Mcgrath and Waqar easily a league above Pollock.
Why adjust Kapil's batting average up? If you are crediting him for bowling in tough conditions, shouldn't he take something of a knock in terms of batting. 26 Away average with the bat doesn't make it seem like he's better than his career average.I think Pollock was a comfortably better bowler than Kapil and Kapil was a better batsman than Pollock.
Bowling:
Pollock - 24
Kapil - 28
Batting:
Pollock - 29( batting avg inflated slightly by not outs)
Kapil - 33
Overall, Pollock should be better.
I hear Kapil was a better bowler and batsman than Botham tooWhy adjust Kapil's batting average up? Kapil's impact with bat was way more than his average suggest. He would score his runs at fast rate and has played several audacious knocks vs high quality bowling attacks. His record vs Windies is the best among the quartet. That knock vs South Africa in 1992 cannot be played by the likes of Shaun Pollock, Daniel Vettori or any player averaging 30 with bat.Why adjust Kapil's batting average up? Kapil is an underrated bowler and overrated bat.Kapil's impact with bat was way more than his average suggest. Just like how Stokes is better than what his batting average reads, same applies for the likes of Kapil and Botham.
Imran, Jadeja and S Pollock are not as good a batter as their averages suggest as it's inflated by not outs ( many of them coming with their score being less than 30 runs).
I don’t disagree re: Pollock, but imo Jadeja is definitely clear of Kapil and Imran is quite close. Botham ahead of all of em.Kapil's impact with bat was way more than his average suggest. Nah his bowling is a bit overrated, at least on here imo.Kapil is an underrated bowler and overrated bat.
Only by those who don't rate SC bowlers as we established in that previous thread a while back.Nah his bowling is a bit overrated, at least on here imo.
