Okay, the rankings Kiwi pacers got in my pacers rankings:

Hadlee - 3
Wagner - 52
Boult - 53
Cowie - 63
Bond - 64
Southee - 66
Chatfield - 84
Collinge - 89
Motz - 99
MacGibbon - 113
Martin - 115
Taylor - 119
Nash - 129

Among the spinners:

Vettori - 39

Haven't ranked Jamieson, but believe he should be in the 70ish right now. Will probably rank him once he plays 25 Tests.

No ranking for either Cairns???
Nash way too low.

Also what about Doull? His 7 fer against India was brilliant, he bowled NZ to extremely rare wins in SA and Pakistan, and his delivery to Nasser Hussain (look it up on YouTube) was amazing.

Chris Cairns I believe is somewhere between 100-110, Lance a bit lower probably in the 120s. Simon Doull and Danny Morrison didn't make my Top 150 cut.

Have to say, the shunning of Southee in this thread is pretty appalling. Worse batter than Boult but probably the better bowler.

This doesn't feel right somehow, but it's probably Boult. It's one of those "benefitting by not playing" situations though, where Southee continues to go downhill but probably deserves credit for actually making himself available

I think Boult is overall a slightly better bowler than Southee in tests, even factoring in that Boult wasn't debuted too young and retired while still close to his peak. Having said that, if you look at Southee's numbers during the same age-range that Boult was while he was playing tests (roughly 22-33) it's extremely close. Southee's record in that period is 287 at 26.44 to Boult's overall career numbers of 317 @ 27.49. Boult's record is overall more consistent, averaging 30+ vs only Australia (41) and South Africa (39), while Southee averages 61 v SA, 42 v Aus and 34 v Bangladesh.

Having said that, Southee in that period has a truly incredible record in the sub-continent, with 44 @ 22.7 compared to Boult's 50 @31.7.

yeah see that makes me want to second guess myself because there's an argument there for Southee>Boult during the comparable phases of their careers, and aside from that young Boult simply wasn't good enough to be picked (Southee was) and old Boult cbf (Southee can).

I still lean towards "what happened happened and sucking is bad" analysis though. Southee did quite a bit of sucking.

I know Cricinfo can tend to get a bit flowery with it's praise of older players, but "if he was Australian, he'd have been termed a wonder of the age" found on Cowies page has just always instinctively felt so true to me

Chris Cairns would be above Chatfield imo, anyone who could take a 5 wicket haul against the Aussies at that time has to be rated, no way should he not be on that list,

Nah, Boult was always more consistent, more dangerous at his peak, able to bowl in most conditions etc.

Having said that, Boult pisses me off now for hanging out with Zuckerberg, playing random franchise leagues in places people only go on cruise holidays and deciding he'll turn up every now and then to play for us. That's not rational, but that's how it is. So I won't say him.

I'd go Bond, and again I'm not saying that's rational. He was just a freak of a man
