Was WI ATG team overhyped?

Should be a close series. Both teams probably start the series at even chances, Australia 55-45 for me.
Maybe. What they definitely aren’t doing is comfortably beating an Indian side over 5 tests. They probably aren’t beating them at all, much less comfortably.
Like I said, before the emergence of those 4 players yea sure.

So does Jadeja and Ashwin which are equivalent to 3 players in Asia .
Haha no. Bradman is literally worth two worldclass batsmen.

Jadeja/Ashwin definitely give lower order strength but then if India decide to have five bowlers this is mitigated somewhat.

Haha no
Batting average of Jadeja + Ashwin =55 in Asia ( 1 ATG batsmen equivalent)

They both average Under 25 ( 2 ATG bowling equivalent)

So 1+ 2= 3
Writing haha at the end won’t change any of the fact .
Just a reminder that they occupy two batting spaces in the lineup, not one.

I think contrary to how it's presented, using pace to win in India is a more viable strategy than using spin.

83 WI won through pace.

86/87 Pak won the series on a lottery spin pitch.

2000 SA won through pace mainly, Boje only took a fifer to seal it when it was a foregone conclusion.

2004/5 Aus won with their pace trio and Warne was support.

2012 Eng definitely won with Monty/Swann combo and Anderson support.
In which of these series were India's bowling attack as good as the modern one though? Couldn't you just as easily say it's just down to having the better bowling attack regardless of the makeup?

I really don't see how this pace/spin stuff is relevant when all those teams were far weaker than what's available today.

Pant averages twice as much as Gilchrist in BG trophy . McGrath doesn’t have a 5 wkt haul in IND . But yeah IND would be crushed by AUS in IND .

Just because your batsmen were bunny of Warne , you are expecting IND also to fold cheaply against AUS which isn’t going to happen .
