As the second best bowler I've seen? Ambrose comes the closest as well as Steyn but in terms of being the second best, yeah, McGrath.
Then just say imo.
McGrath definitely has intense competition from Hadlee, Ambrose and Steyn .

Then you under rate Sehwag slightly imo . However Ponting also gets longevity points imo .
Yeah, but Sehwag gets 'aggression' and 'batting position' points; which seems pretty hefty. The problem I have with such logic is that; let's per say Sehwag, he's great in Asia. But if I am making an ATG India team and taking it on tours, would I want him to really open in England, New Zealand and South Africa; when he has proven to be a walking wicket there? Or should I opt for someone who has relatively done well across all conditions like Vijay Merchant?

Do you rate Clarke higher than Sehwag? Clarke was an all conditions batsmen while Sehwag was not but I still rate Sehwag slightly higher.

Because there was no Gavaskar also . Sehwag was our no.1 opener .
I get that; but like he really underperformed in those 3 countries while opening; while he had a century in his debut match in SA in the middle order..... On revision, it looks like they could had sent a cheaper wicket to remove the shine.

That required innovation. And if the move backfired Coach would have been heavily criticised. So Coach were afraid to try innovation .
