But if home=away.....Sehwag’s liability in 3 country is too much to overcome.

Sehwag only played 100 tests. I’m pretty sure Ponting was averaging high 50s around that stage. But if home=away.....
I am doing this for youBut if home=away.....
As the second best bowler I've seen? Ambrose comes the closest as well as Steyn but in terms of being the second best, yeah, McGrath.McGrath has little competition but Gilchrist has competition
Still closer than I would rate them.I am doing this for you
Home Sehwag (9). Ponting (8.5)
Away. Sehwag 5.5. Ponting (7)
Overall. 15.5 > 14.5
That's not how we go around here usually....Sehwag only played 100 tests. I’m pretty sure Ponting was averaging high 50s around that stage.
So ponting is still better even if home = away
Then just say imo.As the second best bowler I've seen? Ambrose comes the closest as well as Steyn but in terms of being the second best, yeah, McGrath.
We were literally talking about my opinion. I said that I've seen. Then just say imo.
McGrath definitely has intense competition from Hadlee, Ambrose and Steyn .
Then you under rate Sehwag slightly imo . However Ponting also gets longevity points imo .Still closer than I would rate them.
Massive difference between 168 tests and 104 testsThat's not how we go around here usually....
Yeah, but Sehwag gets 'aggression' and 'batting position' points; which seems pretty hefty. The problem I have with such logic is that; let's per say Sehwag, he's great in Asia. But if I am making an ATG India team and taking it on tours, would I want him to really open in England, New Zealand and South Africa; when he has proven to be a walking wicket there? Or should I opt for someone who has relatively done well across all conditions like Vijay Merchant? Then you under rate Sehwag slightly imo . However Ponting also gets longevity points imo .

I believe you watched team India in the 2000s. Do you know why they never tried to do that??Swap batting positions
Dravid
Gavaskar
Tendulkar
Kohli
Sehwag
Because there was no Gavaskar also . Sehwag was our no.1 opener .I believe you watched team India in the 2000s. Do you know why they never tried to do that??
Do you rate Clarke higher than Sehwag? Clarke was an all conditions batsmen while Sehwag was not but I still rate Sehwag slightly higher.Yeah, but Sehwag gets 'aggression' and 'batting position' points; which seems pretty hefty. I get that; but like he really underperformed in those 3 countries while opening; while he had a century in his debut match in SA in the middle order..... On revision, it looks like they could had sent a cheaper wicket to remove the shine.Because there was no Gavaskar also . Sehwag was our no.1 opener .
Clarke all conditions batsmen? Guy doesn’t even average 40 awayDo you rate Clarke higher than Sehwag? Clarke was an all conditions batsmen while Sehwag was not but I still rate Sehwag slightly higher.
Around equal. Clarke had his own downers.Do you rate Clarke higher than Sehwag? Clarke was an all conditions batsmen while Sehwag was not but I still rate Sehwag slightly higher.
That required innovation. And if the move backfired Coach would have been heavily criticised. So Coach were afraid to try innovation .I get that; but like he really underperformed in those 3 countries while opening; while he had a century in his debut match in SA in the middle order..... On revision, it looks like they could had sent a cheaper wicket to remove the shine.
At his best he was an all conditions batsmen I think and has a more well rounded away record than Sehwag, but that probably wasn’t a good exampleClarke all conditions batsmen? Guy doesn’t even average 40 away
