Fixeruddin disliked that
Dhoni is the unofficial fixing GOAT, while Fixeruddin is the official goat.

Dhoni was too big a player to expose and bring whole of Indian cricket into disrepute in a period when BCCI had become the richest board. It would have meant huge backlash and unimaginable financial losses. And it's easy to blame a player but once you fix/spotfix even a single game for the underworld bookies or whoever, you are ****ed and forever trapped in their web. They hold the aces (blackmail).

And IPL is not what meets the eye, certain games are rigged to engineer tight finishes and certain other games are spot fixed & have the most dramatic turnarounds, occasionally even multiple dramatic turnarounds. Odds going from like 7.00 to 1.25 and then back to 6.00. Initially I gave it the benefit of the doubt but there was a season when it became so obvious (I still particularly remember Kings XI Punjab doing crazy ****).

Well it's a business afterall with owners having invested a lot of money and they typically want/need a return. (Not all owners can afford to lose significant money. Not everyone is an Ambani).

I mean it’s a given that there’s been instances of spot fixing in most leagues and international cricket that have gone under the radar. Makes no sense for someone like MSD to fix games though lol.

there is even a TV series based on IPL which touches on these things.

Inside Edge on Amazon Prime.

Ofcourse it's quite exaggerated and all, but it sort of matches my earlier experiences of watching IPL.
