Chappell and Ponting battles for 3rd behind Bradman and Smith.
We have gone over this many times; but Chappell is clear of Ponting imo. Just his WSC record can be argued to be multiple tiers above any of Ponting's series....

You don't get what Ponting was, the dominance an no. 3, he often felt inevitable, he was immense.
Bradman
Smith
Chappell / Ponting

As I said, been done that already; several times. He benefitted hugely from the 2000s Era and pitches, especially the Australian ones; and his away record leaves much room for things to be desired....
I would go:
Bradman - 1
Smith - 6
Chappell - 13
Trumper - 16
Border -18
Waugh - 19
Ponting - 22
Harvey - 36

Very odd list with Trumper at 16 and Hill nowhere in sight.

You need to watch Punter bat bro, lol. He took games away.

If you're down grading him, then Gilly has to be as well. No one questions Gilly's record.

Gilly is different though. Everything about him is different. He almost feels like a cheat code in a team.

And riddle me this, ofcourse I have seen his batting footages; but where can watch him live now? What the hell can I do for not being born earlier?? Please don't talk like that ma1968 guy....

Apologies not my intent. But to have watched him. You got mini Viv vibes... You would think you have a chance, then in a blink of an eye the game was already beyond you.

And yes, Gilly was a cheat code, but played in the same era in the same team.

I mean, I am not disagreeing. But to be honest with you, how I rate late 80s to 2000s players have much to do with the discussions I have with my dad. And he truly believed that a match was never won when Steve Waugh was in the crease. He says that Ponting, Dravid, Kallis, etc. are all great batsmen; but Steve Waugh was among the most dependable. It's not like taking the game away and giving you a swift release like Ponting within a session; but slowly building up his innings and always working towards the goal. I know that one was ODI, but he especially talks about that SA '99 WC match; and the confidence Waugh had in such a dire situation. According to him, he would send in Waugh if the team score in 10/3 over any batsman bar Bradman.
