I want to see the age group who votes for Smith - going to be dominated by under 35s who were pimply children or younger when Ponting was in his prime.

Smiths career is close to done without the track record of achievement that Ponting has. Obviously in his prime, he was amazing and arguably better, but it looks like he will fall short of Ponting’s achievements
I'm questioning whether you're serious with these posts but have to say I am entertained either way.

Based on his posts re: age I’m assuming he grew up with Border (lemme guess 1978?) then transitioned to Waugh etc, which is why his rating follows a chronological order from that point.

The "I was scared of X batsman so he was better" is such a common meme template on CW too. It's nonsensical. We're all dumb, low IQ spectators ffs what we find scary doesn't matter as much as the actual numbers do.

I was terrified of afridi whenever he came out to bat doesn't mean he was any good.

I think there is very little to differentiate Smith and Ponting (and any number of comparable players) statistically so I do enjoy annoying those who have a strong viewsince that’s patently ridiculous.

I also think there is much more narrative to cricket than the numbers so I find it mildly amusing when people don’t get why Viv is lin the race to be the GOAT after Bradman or why Ashwin is so well respected
