Rubbish. We can and we have. Successfully.
when have our spinners done well in the last 10 years outside of patels 10 in india. They havent look back to aus 2019 tour come sydney we play two spinners with no test cricket under their belt and sommerville and astle get whacked.

edit: Probably part of the reason we dont tour that well is we expect a spinner whos played 5 tests total across 3 years to come in and win us a game in foreign conditions

It was funny when cricinfo reacted. Now that cricinfo think it's funny, it's not funny.

Need more sanctimonious telling offs from random pommy and Indian commentators.
Would cricinfo have a clue about any of it? I don’t think the updates are done by anyone with any local knowledge these days.

They didn't, but when they figured out David Bain and Mark Lundy were not random cricket fans commenting, the commentator at the time threw a wah, which naturally made everyone keep doing it.

Touring spinners in Australia pretty much always get whacked, unless they're Ashwin-tier. Hell, Murali got pulverised whenever he went to Australia, it's a prick of a place for finger spinners to try and bowl. Ajaz also got a 6 wicket bag in literally his last performance for NZ. He, Sommerville and Santner have all produced handy performances in Asia. The only real exception is the 2021 tour of India, and as you noted Ajaz produced the second best match return in NZ history while touring there.

We've actually had our best overseas/Asia decade in our history the last 10 years in spinning conditions.

Doing exactly that.

Abu Dhabi 1 - win (Patel)
Abu Dhabi 2 - win (Patel / Sommerville)
Colombo - win (only minor contributions from the sinners: Patel / Sommerville)
Mirpur - win (Patel / Santner / Phillips)

Plus a drawn away series in Pakistan (mostly Sodhi)

Plus a Birmingham win (with major Patel contribution)

Can't ignore Wagner/Boult/Southee in that effort either imo. Kept up pressure throughout, which is something that we have often historically lacked with the older ball.*

*besides when we, like everyone else, massively cheated with bottlecaps

Not sure of the gag here, but the PM has apparently contributed to the Cricinfo commentary now:

Chris Luxon: "4 maidens on the trot, something's going to give soon"
