Whatever it takes!!!
Will again say, given the ground, the outfield and the dimensions, this has been a great pitch. Even now Stokes is very much in the game coz all he needs are 60-65m hits to get 6s. I know the chance of him missing or mistiming one is always there but it is also very much feasible he tonks 10 6s quickly and the game changes on its face again, especially since Foakes can more than hold his own with the bat and Hartley looks like he can tonk a few himself, Santner-esque.

Very little of the rub of the green has gone England's way this test. At least Bairstow didn't allege a conspiracy. Unlike a 35 year old Ashwin in Newlands.

Every single England batsman that has gotten out has had a start.
Yeah but when your mindset is to go as hard as they do, that sort of thing can always happen. It's the price you buy this approach at.

It was ridiculous how many numb skull England supporters (there's stacks, let's be honest) were on here during the Ashes huffing and puffing about how great it was they were scoring so fast only to turn around and lament the choice of shots blokes played as they skied one to mid wicket for 30 or 40 odd. Well duh.

That's the inherent risk in playing the way they do. And if it works for their players then so be it, but their supporters need to come to terms with the fact there's going to be a lot of dismissals which look ****ing horrendous when you play this way.

Rajkot is usually a proper patta wicket, though ground dimensions should be slightly bigger than this one. If we continue with idiotic selection, I would be worried about that test even if we win this one. England will score quickly no matter where they play.

That said, I think today showed when they can overdose on Bazball. Pope and Root looked like they are chasing 400 in 50 overs than a test. I know Bazball is all about playing shots and being positive but they were playing a shot a ball which shows they were frenetic more than aggressive. Anderson comments yesterday were pretty arrogant too, though I suppose it fits with the sort of personality he has shown as a player all through his career.

Harsha, in a rare moment of good commentary, actually pointed this out. Crawley was on 70 off 120, it was not like he was a 100 off 120 and hitting boundaries every ball. For comparison, Gill was on 90 off 120 yesterday and no one was yelling out Bazball at his batting. It is definitely great as a philosophy that frees up the mind and allows batsmen to concentrate on the most basic thing of all, scoring runs off the balls bowled at them and it probably helps with more decisive footwork and strokeplay, but you cant let your own hype get to you. Its what cost them at least the first test of the Ashes and that test against NZ.

It has been a good fist at the target by the England team. It was a 100 too many, otherwise they could have chased it with the Bazball approach. 1-1 scorecard sets up the rest of the series nicely.

"Being surprised" at Crawley's lbw is a pointless comment lol. It's three reds, your eyes suck, end of. If it's umpires call shaving leg or something you'd have a case to whine.

Ha ha, yes, whoever are supporting bazball should also be of the acceptance that they can get out to those risky shots too. Works great when it comes off and looks stupid when it doesn't.

Not umpires call at Newlands 2021 either, didn't stop a much bigger meltdown there though.
