How would 80s WI and 2000s Australia fare in unbeatable current India?

None of this is true.
Tell him again. For him, he's saying (what I can deduce) that Australia dominated in the 2000s when other teams then were inferior to their modern equivalent. Who here thinks WI, RSA, SL, Pak, Eng and Ind now are superior to their teams of the 2000s. Afaic, only NZ now is better. India's bowling now is better but not their batting. India now slightly better overall. The rest teams now, including Australia are inferior to their counterparts of the 2000s.

I think our team in the 2000s was better than our current team, batting wise.

We did a complete reversal in roles....our batting was better and bowling sucked in the 2000s. Now our bowling is winning us games; the batting is still incompetent.

Very true. If only the team then, had the bowling we have now...

My point is about how good people consider the current India to be, as part of how much more favoured they should be in hypotheticals like this thread. You've basically been arguing against that and dismissing it with all sorts of arguments. Thought it was pretty clear from my point of view. You don't see them as being that impressive vs what were more dominant teams home and away, and you've not been very receptive to the idea that being that dominant in the past was more down to the average team not being very good compared to the modern equivalent.
Sorry but it is very much the opposite.

The reason WI and Australia in the past were so highly rated was because they defeated quality teams home and away.

WI from 79/80 to 83 defeated Aus, Pak, Eng and Ind teams away littered with greats.

Australia before even the 2000s had already defeated worldclass WI, Pak and SA teams to become no.1.

India on the other hand at home have defeated teams that generally haven't been as strong.

Of these, only Pakistan in the 80s and SA/WI in the 90s were good teams. Rest were pretty mediocre or fading.

As usual, nostalgia =/= reality. Hilarious though, keep it up.
You do know you're not allowed to rewrite history to fit into your nationalistic desires.

1. You're placing this attack as possibly the 3rd best of all time by trying to diminish two teams that actually were.

2. Neither of the other two had to doctor pitches 🤷🏽‍♂️

3. And both of the attacks made their marks away from home and won consistently.

I didn't say 1 at all though, since that wasn't the debate being had. I could make an argument for it if that was being asked, sure. Ignoring 2 because you just want to sling ****, 3 is again you basically ignoring my point. At this point why continue given you're not interested in discussion?

The Aus team WI beat in 79/80 had Lillee, Thommo, Chappell bros, Border. The Eng team in 80/81 had Willis, peak Botham, Gooch, Boycott and others. They defeated also a strong England team in 76 also. Even India had Gavaskar, Amaranth, Vengsarkar and Kapil. India with their spin quartet were defeated by WI earlier in the 70s.

Pak in mid 90s were a good team. Australia defeated a strong Indian team in 2004/5 and a strong SL team in 2004.

All of these teams were defeated AWAY from home by the ATG sides.

Just checked, they’ve only played 6 matches together away, compared to 22 at home.
How many great attacks have played that much together? I think having 1 member rotate in and out like Lee, Starc/Haze or one of the WI quicks is to be expected.

I'd be surprised if any 4 specialist bowlers have this total beat. You need to factor in different playing dates, injuries, rotation, horses for courses, etc.

That win by Aus was most impressive. Murali was great in that series and Australia were bowling at a strong Sri lanka batting lineup playing at home. Australia trailed in every match but still swept the series. Outstanding performance!!

Yes it was. They beat peak Murali at home yet you have posters here pretending they are going to flounder against spin.
