Gilly missed a fair few years due to Healy. Considering everything, you have to say Healy was a better keeper than Gilchrist. And as I already said, Miller is a much better bowler than Lee; and with bat Miller + Healy isn't really below Gilly + Lee.... Though you can complain whether it's even fair to include Lee with Gilchrist and Healy with Miller; as I think undoubtedly Healy is a better Test cricketer

They typical keeper who was closer to him with the bat was typically well behind with the gloves (Sanga apart of course), and Jadeja isn't that far off Miller as a bowling all rounder.
IDK. There have been a few quality keepers recently that average 40ish with the bat and a few who have been above this level with the bat even if weaker with the gloves.

The pool of bowlers/ARs is much bigger. You need to find 4 or 5 Jadejas for every Sanga to describe typical.

What was great about Gilly was that, unlike the bowling all rounders, he had impactful and game winning 4th innings hundreds.

When he walked out he could change the complexion of the game in a handful of overs. In the context of his team, after you finally got through the gauntlet, you now had to deal with this cheat code at 7.

Yes later in his career he was "found out" a little, but who else compared to that?

There's a reason he's one of about 4 or 5 names who are automatics for an at time. Think about it, there are about 4 or 5 names that everyone agrees upon that makes this team, he's one of them.

Should count for something

I think part of this is everyone's predetermined positions, or predispositions to the game.

Coronis will never give Gilly credit for his scoring rate, because he doesn't rate it. I'm not a fan of rating players high just because they performed two disciplines, especially if they weren't ATG at either.

I also believe Gilly was more key to his team than Miller was to his, but guess that was neither here or there.

Nah all I’m saying is he wasn’t the first to score at such a rate or the first to score so profusely as a keeper.

Of course he put those together along with high quality keeping as nobody else has come quite close to.

Who else was scoring around a run a ball that time?

Gilly was a unicorn and a top 10 player of all time for me. The three skills he managed to put together at one time was somewhat revolutionary.
