i should say this test ended with a limp wrist, but, like, the windies did put up a good fight at some points
so often it happens in sport that an underdog starts to show a bit of fight and plant a seed but all it takes is sort of one mistake or for the tide to turn back and they just lose the plot entirely

The 2015-16 game would've gone close to the record if not for Nigel ****ing Llong.

There's my yearly rant about that Test, the itch satisfactorily scratched in January

Yeah no way Steve Smith becomes fastest to 10,000 Test runs now. His test ATG legacy will be FINISHED in 3 more tests (2nd WI test, NZ tests) as his average will drop below 57.

Kohli/Root will score big runs in upcoming IND-ENG series. Steve Smith is not even certain to end up as the best test batter from the Fab 4 at this rate either, let alone best test batter ever.
Legacy is finished for not being fastest to 10k runs and average dropping below 57? From where are these morons keep turning up?

The whole season turned out to be a lot closer than I thought. If they bat like this against India, 3rd straight defeat is certainly on the cards

I know marsh has made runs recently, but I'm still a bit worried about him. That back of a length ball starting on middle and moving away towards slip late has gotten him out a fair few times since his return and that was an area he struggles with earlier in his career aswell. Think teams have been too full or short to him since his return, if windies keep this plan up could see him struggling a bit.

Given Khawaja hit, pretty crazy that Australia released Renshaw for BBL so no-one was available to be a concussion sub.

I know it wasn't needed but decision was made day 1 before they knew test would be over today

Btw Khawaja passed his first concussion test and scans on his jaw

Sources tell me that he was released because Bancroft is being rushed in instead, and ousting Woke Pat as captain no less, to save Australian cricket from the danger of radical leftism

I'm glad Hazlewood took 9 as it has somewhat awakened people to the career zenith he is now experiencing which doesn't compare badly to Cummins'.

I haven't seen anyone get it to deck as unrelentingly at the Adelaide Oval as Hazlewood did on the two days. Other sides may well have fallen to as stark a defeat given that bowling.

Stats since the start of the 2019 Ashes:

Hazlewood 94 wickets @ 22.22
Cummins 168 wickets @ 22.07
Starc 137 wickets @ 26.55
Lyon 169 wickets @ 27.85

That is a crazy good run.

Haze usually getting left out when conditions don't suit playing three specialist quicks does help him protect his average a bit, but yeah he's been a like Gillespie to Cummins' McGrath - awesome #2 and maybe a bit underrated because the #1 has had a better career.

What year did Tendulkar play his 189th innings in? Hard to compare these two without knowing how much of his games up to this point came in the 90s vs 2000s. Smith's peak coincided with a pretty easy batting era, had a year or two when pace bowling averages dropped worldwide, then he got banned for a year and hasn't really been the same player since he came back (still been phenomenal, tbf, just not up to his previous standards).

Looks like it was 2004.
