pretty solid when he's on comms imho! genuine insight as to the broader game and the current players without being just there for the sake of it sorta thingI do hope Arun Finch manages to make a decent score in his last game tomorrow. Bloke has been a legendary LO player for Australia. And seems a really good bloke for a Victorian
It's probably got worse since the SA20 started. There's a significantly better quality of English cricketer in that comp than the BBL.I can see what they were going for tbf. There was significant concerns a few years back that the talent pool was being so diluted that it was seriously devaluing the product because they were being forced to play junk grade cricketers just to fill numbers.
Whether that's improved is another matter.
Not sure there's really been a detectable difference. The mediocre nobodies have been a feature for a good number of years now, and even the 'better' ones have often underperformed. For example, my memory of Will Jacks was that he was one of the worst specialist batsmen I'd ever seen. I don't know enough about his English form to determine whether it improved between 2021/22 BBL and his international call-up in late 2022, or if he simply played badly here, but when he played for Hobart he could barely get the ball off the square. It's probably got worse since the SA20 started. Yeah I remember laughing at him for being Richard Ngarava’s bunny in that Zim ODI series but after that I just felt sorry for him, it’s been painful watching him bat the last couple of years. And he is a good commentator and seems like a decent guy.I do hope Arun Finch manages to make a decent score in his last game tomorrow. Bloke has been a legendary LO player for Australia. He could bowl that stuff until he’s 60SOK well past Brad Hogg now. Reckon he could go around another 2 years.
His e/r for the tournament is less than 6.5By the time they get to the batsmen I reckon you could take the zero off that speed.
there's precedent they picked Brad Hogg for the 2014 T20 WC as a 42 year oldHe could bowl that stuff until he’s 60
Should also be one of the first chosen for the t20 WC as the pitches will suit him
*Get's hit in head by ball that bounces viciously*The new Perth Stadium is honestly better at being a traditional WACA pitch than the late era WACA was, that's vicious bounce there.
Wasn't in the tests against NZ or WI. And I'm expecting a more turgid surface like that for India. The new Perth Stadium is honestly better at being a traditional WACA pitch than the late era WACA was, that's vicious bounce there.
Wasn't turgid in the slightest in 2019.Wasn't in the tests against NZ or WI. And I'm expecting a more turgid surface like that for India.
Oh I reckon it’ll be fast AF next summer tbhWasn't in the tests against NZ or WI. And I'm expecting a more turgid surface like that for India.
**** I hope so. We need to make every wicket fast and bouncy as possible. Actually start using conditions that help usOh I reckon it’ll be fast AF next summer tbh
AFL says don’t care**** I hope so. We need to make every wicket fast and bouncy as possible. Actually start using conditions that help us
I'd predict the opposite, they'll prepare slow pitches as as generally been the theme the past few tours.**** I hope so. We need to make every wicket fast and bouncy as possible. Actually start using conditions that help us
