What will Pat Cummins’ legacy be?

This was those years when CW was in its most "Shield form uber alles" mindset - that you can and should shuffle batsmen in and out of the side based on their recent Test and FC form regardless of how "good" you think they are. This led to like a half decade of fundamentally mediocre batsmen being selected and quickly discarded when their season or so of good Shield form didn't translate into anything meaningful at the higher level.
Peaked with Rob Quiney, that was hilarious

Could there be another spell like this on the horizon? If Smith is being considered as an opener it's going to open up spots all over the place.

Does it say something about Cummins's legacy that it only took about 4 pages for it to start getting derailed about Anderson and now we're discussing Marcus Harris?

Few will disagree that he's an excellent bowler and a nice guy, but is he the type of player that Australian kids of today will tell their grandkids about? Similarly, hard for English fans to hate him and, now that Warner has gone, even his team are rather unobjectionable, which is a terrible position for any Australian side to be in, however good.

Every time I see someone bring up the "aha, you were talking about one thing but now you're talking about another!" canard as if it proves something, I can only assume that they haven't held a conversation that's lasted more than five minutes before.

Ben Stokes’ legacy thread got derailed on the 1st page itself by a player not even from his country in comparison LuL
