I'm suprised manenti hasn't found more game time for the strikers given his form for the redbacks the past 2 years. You can't tell me adam hose or thomas kelly offer more than him as a middle order option.

Also, can I just say looking over matthew short's record in the last two years how comically bad he has been vs spin, given his overall gun form? In the last two years, Opening he averages 53 at 170 vs pace and 19 at 122 vs spin. At #3 Those numbers are 91 at 150 and 4 at 75 (Small sample size, tbf). It's amazing how bad he is vs spin.

If you can spot this, why don't the various franchise analysers? You'd think teams would open with spinners against him.

Tbf some teams have tried this I assume. From what I can tell he's been dismissed 16 times in the powerplay in the past year, 7 times to spin, 9 times to pace, averaging 15 at 110 vs spin, averaging 53, striking at 170 vs pace. Alot of franchise teams just don't have spinners that are particularly good/comfortable bowling with the new rock with 2 fielders out. Maybe his opening partner/#3 is able to exploit that? Hard to say, but i'de hope more teams try it cause it's clearly a weakness. FYI, i'm not saying he just can't play spin at all, despite the numbers. The canes bowled dooley to him in the PP today, dooley dragged the ball down, and short smashed it for 6.

If you cut this down to T20I in the past year, it reads average of 4, strike rate of 85 vs spin, average of 73, strike rate of 210 vs pace in the pp while opening. Faced 35 balls of pace, 14 of spin.

presumably as they're scared of bowling with only 2 fielders back, or bowling pump and getting carted anyway

Apparently Richardson has been fiddling with his runup. May explain why he seems out of form and a touch slower than normal in the past couple of matches.

This is interesting from marnus. Never seen him this aggressive early door's in whiteball. Feels especially weird given the heat have walter-neser at 6/7 and 4 bowlers after them.

Reckon he's just been lucky to get a few balls in his area and managed to get some boundaries away. If they bowled better he'd probably be striking sub 100
