Yeah I brought this up yesterday, Umesh was discarded way too quickly. He was injured for the WI series and then they've just not bothered with him since.

I guess they felt problem with him was that they need the 3rd/4th seamer to just be steady support for Bumrah/Shami/SIraj and Umesh just leaks runs far too often.

They obviously can't pull off another Test but if the game is finished on Day 2 they should seriously consider playing an ODI on what would have been Day 3 or Day 4, especially considering the ticket sales for those days already.

In the 1988/89 Pakistan tour of NZ one of the tests was abandoned due to rain and they played an ODI. In whites, I think.

Also on India's tour if NZ a decade later in 98/99 same thing happened at Dunedin, was a washout. And they played a one-dayer but was not an ODI. An exhibition match. Don't even think it was list A.

Not sure why they got so precious about it.

It this day surely no one gives a **** about the status of a JAMODI, unlike in 99 when that 'mattered'.
