Today's New Plymouth races being called off because of bad weather doesn't fill me with confidence for the two Super Smash games this afternoon...

Still another month to go before the 100% T20 diet is over, both domestically and blackcaps. So, for something I can find actually interesting to talk about. Here is a video of the prominent seam bowlers from the U19 tournament.

I like Paranjpe the most, who didn't make the team (and to be fair he seemed to fade later in tournament in unstreamed matches). Clarke is apparently only 16, he looks good, but he will be a young guy at that tournament. Rowe is also very young.

With the domestic tournament only a month before the ICC tournament, it obviously didn't play much into the selections that were probably largely decided already. Although neither Clarke nor Rowe went to Darwin qualifiers (were non-travelling reserves IIRC )

With the late switch from Sri Lanka to South Africa, I think Paranjpe would be an even more suitable pick.

Only 4 seamers going:
Mason Clarke - (pace) - OTA
Matt Rowe - (pace) - CD
Ewald Schreuder - (pace) - ND
Ryan Tsourgas - (pace) - WEL

Does anyone else immediately hit mute as soon as the commentators start talking to the players? I can't stand it.
On the women's game earlier, they had Rosemary Mair mic'd up and they were talking to her whilst she was bowling, which I thought was a bit ****.

But yeah, it doesn't add much other than a couple of slightly dodgy takes. I think Tim Robinson said something a bit dodgy on the mic the other day, but can't remember the precise wording.

Canterbury going alright here but probably need 60+ off the last 5 overs at least.
100%

Well, 95%. Because for some reason I didn't mute it before when they were talking to Foulkes and it was actually interesting as they asked him how he saw his batting v bowling abilities/roles.

Wow.

Otago making Alexandra a waste of time. Some washouts. Now walking off for bad light ...

I don't think they actually want the TVNZ contract renewed ....

Odd pairing this, R O'Donnell and Fletcher. They're both of that unusual type of middle-order cake, averaging 35 and striking 130 batting #5.

Great finish - and kudos to Oli White for bringing it home with the lower order after Foxcroft holed out. Young Perera bowled really well under pressure too, some real emerging spin talent with Pringle and Ashok.

Callum McLachlan's career trajectory has been odd – batted #10 on/near his debut, now on Blundell's return playing as a specialist bat, in between scoring 100 out of 143 or something crazy from middle-lower order and scoring naught else.

This should be a good game at the Mount on a hopefully worn pitch.
