Yeah Unadkat would've seemed a bit uninspiring but he definitely would've been a much better support bowler than Prasidh and Thakur here.
He’s been dropped completely I think after the lack of wickets in WI. Not in the squad or the A game.

He’s definitely better than the rest of these guys though.

I dont think it was. Rohit is just really not in the right mind to be captain right now. I actually think he should not have even played this series. Rahul seems to have a better head to be captain, even if he is uninspiringly bland.
Hmm, that's a bit far. Rohit can in theory be a huge asset on these pitches as a batsman if his head is on straight. Doesn't seem to be though. We're short on opening options as it is with kl keeping.

I would have preferred Arshdeep even. But lets be realistic. They wont drop Prasidh. Best we can hope for is the CSK swap of Jaddu for Shardul. :(
If they take him down here next summer - if one of the main trio is injured - then he will get absolutely butchered.

That's weird. He had a couple of good games for Sussex a few months ago.

the raw attributes are all there in the bench strength, they're just playing such a glut of white ball cricket and not getting enough time to exposure to the longer formats.

In the pace bowling department, India have really regressed from their overdose of riches they had just a year or two ago, haven't they. They have two bowlers on this pitch.
Siraj hasn't really kicked on tbh. He's not bad but he doesn't put together a full 2-3 spells in a row where he's on the money. His opening spell yesterday was great but he's been pretty meh since then. Think this was the case earlier too but was hidden when bumrah and shami were firing. The depth when one of shami/bumrah go out injured just isn't there.

It's worth noting that aside from Bumrah aside, who is a freak of nature both action and talent wise, the great bowling attack actually individually mostly took years of hard work and steady improvement in the national setup to get to where they go to. So the question is whether they're willing to put the same amount of work (which is not just "play them in games") into the next generation too or whether they'll IPL them into the ground.

I am just amazed at how stupidly adamant we have been on not going with the tried and tested tactic of letting your world class spinner wheel away at one end and rotating your fast bowlers at the other once its clear the batting side is playing well and you are playing catch up after a moderate first innings score.

Really beggars belief the experience in that management team are letting this happen.
Ashwin is a non-factor.

Siraj is a great third seamer IMO, will always crack in, won't drop pace, will always bowl to the plan the captain asks for, will always try to make life uncomfortable to the batsman. But his limitations get exposed a bit when he's asked to step up to attack leader alongside Bumrah or Shami (whoever's fit) IMO.

Shami was pretty decent immediately Tbf. But yeah, this next batch needs a lot of work.
