before this test he was being interviewed in his whites and was still upset about losing the WC final. Man's an unimaginative captain at the best of times, can't imagine he cares all that much right now.Utterly baffling that prasidh has bowled this much. Rohit has mentally checked out
@cnerd123 said it best. He has the attributes but does not have the skill, yet.Funnily enough I'd have thought that as a tall, into-the-wicket bowler Prasidh might do well and provide a bit of variety compared to India's other, skiddier bowlers.
I think that certainly factored into why he was picked over Mukesh. Both quite ordinary, though I think Mukesh would've probably kept it tighter. Avesh who's probably the next one in the pecking order is not very encouraging either.Funnily enough I'd have thought that as a tall, into-the-wicket bowler Prasidh might do well and provide a bit of variety compared to India's other, skiddier bowlers.
Pulled a hamstring.Late to this one, what happened to Bavuma?
Heh. He was literally asked if winning in SA would be a balm for recovering from the wc final loss and replied "Eh it's a big series but no"before this test he was being interviewed in his whites and was still upset about losing the WC final. Must've been the thinking but he's just not good.Funnily enough I'd have thought that as a tall, into-the-wicket bowler Prasidh might do well and provide a bit of variety compared to India's other, skiddier bowlers.
I would have preferred Arshdeep even. But lets be realistic. They wont drop Prasidh. Best we can hope for is the CSK swap of Jaddu for Shardul.Must've been the thinking but he's just not good.
Genuinely would've preferred Unadkat tbh.
I think that was the rationale for picking him. Hasn't worked because he's just bowled absolute crap.Funnily enough I'd have thought that as a tall, into-the-wicket bowler Prasidh might do well and provide a bit of variety compared to India's other, skiddier bowlers.
Yeah Unadkat would've seemed a bit uninspiring but he definitely would've been a much better support bowler than Prasidh and Thakur here.Must've been the thinking but he's just not good.
Genuinely would've preferred Unadkat tbh.
you've got this spot on hehJust so sick of reading stuff like this...
Bumrah to de Zorzi, no run
Cracker of a delivery! Angles in and gets the ball to straighten to beat the outside edge.
...while the opposition racks up 350+ at 4 runs an over.
Yeah if Ashwin was going to bowl this little even while the third and fourth seamers were getting pumped then he really doesn't justify his selection at 7. He's basically been picked as a batting allrounder here and it would have been better to pick an actual batsman.I am just amazed at how stupidly adamant we have been on not going with the tried and tested tactic of letting your world class spinner wheel away at one end and rotating your fast bowlers at the other once its clear the batting side is playing well and you are playing catch up after a moderate first innings score.
Really beggars belief the experience in that management team are letting this happen.
I dont think it was. Rohit is just really not in the right mind to be captain right now. I actually think he should not have even played this series. Rahul seems to have a better head to be captain, even if he is uninspiringly bland.Yeah if Ashwin was going to bowl this little even while the third and fourth seamers were getting pumped then he really doesn't justify his selection at 7. Better yet would've been to actually bowl him, but if this was his role it was a stupid pick.
