I am even ok with the lack of slips but you gotta have a 3rd man. These guys are bowling enough bad balls as it is, cant let the good ones go for easy 4s too.

before this test he was being interviewed in his whites and was still upset about losing the WC final. Man's an unimaginative captain at the best of times, can't imagine he cares all that much right now.

Funnily enough I'd have thought that as a tall, into-the-wicket bowler Prasidh might do well and provide a bit of variety compared to India's other, skiddier bowlers.

I think that certainly factored into why he was picked over Mukesh. Both quite ordinary, though I think Mukesh would've probably kept it tighter. Avesh who's probably the next one in the pecking order is not very encouraging either.

I would have preferred Arshdeep even. But lets be realistic. They wont drop Prasidh. Best we can hope for is the CSK swap of Jaddu for Shardul.

I think that was the rationale for picking him. Hasn't worked because he's just bowled absolute crap.
Surprised he continues to bowl so much more than Ashwin.

Yeah Unadkat would've seemed a bit uninspiring but he definitely would've been a much better support bowler than Prasidh and Thakur here.

I am just amazed at how stupidly adamant we have been on not going with the tried and tested tactic of letting your world class spinner wheel away at one end and rotating your fast bowlers at the other once its clear the batting side is playing well and you are playing catch up after a moderate first innings score.
Really beggars belief the experience in that management team are letting this happen.

Yeah if Ashwin was going to bowl this little even while the third and fourth seamers were getting pumped then he really doesn't justify his selection at 7. He's basically been picked as a batting allrounder here and it would have been better to pick an actual batsman.
Better yet would've been to actually bowl him, but if this was his role it was a stupid pick.

I dont think it was. Rohit is just really not in the right mind to be captain right now. I actually think he should not have even played this series. Rahul seems to have a better head to be captain, even if he is uninspiringly bland.

Picking Ashwin to hold up an end is fine. He's doing that. He should've bowled 20+ overs by now and prasidh 10 at most.
