It’s the year of England not winning anything. Your mindset - not really worrying about losing something (anything) - is why your nation thrives in sporting mediocrity. You’ll have the occasional moment, everyone does - even Suriname had an Olympic swimming gold medallist ffs - but as a nation you’re comfortable with losing. I know you’ve had a lot of practice at it, but if you want to succeed, your attitude needs to be that you despise it, take it as a personal insult and never, ever forgive those losers who sully your nation on the world stage by failing to win everything at which they compete.
