The replies on X are brilliant - I particularly liked the fella who thought he needed to apologise on behalf of RCB!!

It's ****ing stupid behaviour, but intimidation? Come on....
Umpire on a power trip, but ego from Curran is very poor. Deservedly banned just not 4 games.

Four games seems very much excessive when a dangerous challenge in football is 3.

He's not injured the umpire except his fragile ego, so the game that was to be played and another would have sufficed

How does an international player not know he's not allowed to run on the pitch before a game? As for running at the umpire, he should be sent home
He seems a bit thick tbh, his ability in games certainly shows a lack of match intelligence.

Sam is a bit of a hothead too so perhaps just genes. Sam Curran is scrappy doo though and more talented. Tom a lanky useless idiot(ignoring his batting in last years blast)

TBH I don't see how a dangerous challenge in football can be related to the length of the ban in any way here.
Also why is the umpire on a power trip? He sees Curran clearly doing the wrong thing and immediately tries to rectify the problem which is what he
should do. Maybe he didn't handle it the best way but unless I'm missing something he didn't do too much wrong.

He claimed he's been intimated, that's a massive overaction. Seen refs in football on the same power trip over a little bit of aggro.

As much I agree on respecting umpires/refs, common sense can be achieved when respect isn't shown. I think calling it intimidation isn't common sense.

I also imagine he'd be the one submitting a report to the league to give his recommendation on the ban etc.

I feel football ban is relevant as it's generally proportionate ban to the crime(I also couldn't draw on any cricket examples off the top of my head)

4 game ban is over the top in this instance for me.

Tom Curran ain't Dwayne Johnson but it's still a dog act even if he didn't intend on making physical contact with the ump

Definitely a ban, 4 games seems ridiculous though - as does Sydney defending him saying he meant no intimidation or harm. He clearly did. It's not a big deal but definitely needs to be suspended,if only to back their umpire who was only upholding a law.

Umpire on a power trip
Literally upholding the laws and playing conditions of the game. You can't do what Curran did on any turf deck at any level, anywhere. He can't have got to the level he has without knowing that.

Just another blow-in, blowhard Pommy nothing-burger who thinks the rules don't apply to him. Next thing the ECB will be claiming he's had a moral victory. He's a ****wit. Umpire should have Symondsed him as he ran past and knocked his 75kg, 90s manufactured boy band frame to the floor.

I still think Curran is completely in the wrong like.
