Hazlewood needed to find a way to get his missus to have his kid later in the year. He would’ve had a big bag too.

Starc was always going for massive coin with his record and long absence from the IPL

Cummins is a complete mystery

Yep, Recency Bias seems to be a huge thing in this auction. Look at Curran/Brook last year. It doesn't generally work out either.
Travis Head literally won us the WC and went cheap

No point trying to work out the logic behind the IPL

6.8 crore is expensive for an overseas opener/top order batsman in the ipl

Warner who is perhaps the greatest ever overseas ipl batsman in history earns 6.25 crores currently in comparison

Actually that seems about the standard price. Bairstow also in the 6-7 grade. Buttler at 10 is perhaps the over-priced one.

Green at 17 is daft, but the Cummins/Starc prices are ridiculous.

its all relative to the niche you fill and partly down to how marketable or popular you are to the Indian audience and your previous ipl record

Bairstow like you point out took time to get to his current contract, his 1st ipl deal was for 2.2 crore only. Green is overpriced because of the lack of pace bowling all rounders in this country and because he had a strong series against us just before the auction. on paper a guy who is tall and bowls at his speed while also being a hitter who can open and score runs reliably is very valuable. Buttler’s price is because he was ipl proven and then he was retained by his team before the reset auction

at least Starc in form is miles better than Cummins as a bowler in t20
Starc at his best is better but Starc at his median in the last few years has been much worse. He plays so little T20 cricket these days that every time he rocks up to a game he just bowls like a drain.

tbf you dont need to bowl at your absolute best to be a menace in the ipl, Malinga came back once when everyone thought he was done and was still great

then again the funniest outcome would be him flopping and picking up the bag anyway or pulling out at the last moment once again to screw over the same team that got screwed by him once

Allegedly just bought a 25 million house so he’s going to turn up

If RCB ain’t playing Green in the top 4, they are insane, because surely they aren’t paying him 17 to concede 50 of 4 overs at Chinnaswamy

haha Head being half of Mitchell’s current bid
Well if he was Kiwi he'd have no doubt gone for the same.

That's another issue I have with the IPL.

NZ,SA and Aus coaches seem to dominant the picture and so then go all out for their countrymen.
