It'd be a good point, except it's false.

Not counting the UAE as overseas or away is ****ing stupid and just opens you up to argument.

Nicholls' away record is awful enough to make a point out of without misleading people.
Cricinfo’s decision not to include the 4 matches Nicholls has played at ‘neutral’ venues is the source of the ‘problem’.

Kane’s stats as per the Cricinfo method:
Home average: 66.67 (45 matches)
Away average: 42.18 (44 matches)
Neutral average: 68.00 (7 matches)

Nah if you're gonna write an article and quote stats you can't give "Oh but Cricinfo didn't order it in the most convenient way so I had to do three seconds of maths and I cbf" as an excuse.

I give people **** over it on drunk CW posts made on the toilet, let alone published articles.

Agree.

19.67 away

49.00 neutral which is

3 tests in the UAE - 287 runs at 57.4 plus the 2021 WTC final in England which was 1 innings of 7 runs (great response after the catch though).

On another note, thanks Bangladesh for an entertaining series. With 1-1 draws in both countries, (and a win in Sylhet which was definitely a better test pitch on balance) current head-to-head bragging rights for sure.

Not complaining at all about the pitches turning square as it offers a nice change from the fare you get in other countries (and TBH it's fun seeing batsmen forced to adapt and develop coping methods like Phillips did), but now that BD are genuine force at home it's probably time to reduce the dependence on these surfaces so that the away showing improves. Having guys like Shoriful in the mix is definitely an asset.

My hot take: Jamieson should've never been in the ODI squad. I'm sorry, a NZ frontline pacer should never average over 30 in List A & be in an ODI squad. It's just not good enough.
Ehh, Jamiesons powerplay numbers in ODI are elite from memory. Keeps in cheap and takes wickets. With southee and boult unlikely to make the next WC, I don't mind him. He's got the height/release point to do a plunkett type job in the middle overs aswell.

Sears' average is worse btw.
I wouldn't pick him either - too whackable (then again, so is Lockie), but he was decent last FT game.

And hey, he isn't Kuggeleijn. I half thought he was going to get called up. I'm all up for young guys getting called up, though maybe Clarke or Toole instead? I mean, they called up Shipley for recent form despite his stats.
